Multi-storey buildings

Model Directive concerning the construction, operation and maintenance of multi-storey buildings (M-HHR), April 2008 version
Emergency escape lighting
Special requirements and variances pursuant to article 51, section 1 of the Model Building Code (MBO) for the construction and operation of multi-storey buildings (paragraph 2, section 4, no. 1 of MBO) are provided herein. Multi-storey buildings are buildings whose height exceeds 22 meters.
The emergency escape lighting system in multi-storey buildings must automatically switch on in the event of a general lighting failure.
Emergency escape lighting must be provided: - on escape routes - in front of lifts
Exceptions:
- for safety signs on escape routes
Emergency escape lighting time can be reduced to 3 hours if the lighting is timer-controlled and switched via master lighting switches.
