The Color Run is back!!! Bring your family out for our 1 mile fun walk/run through Park West! This color walk/run themed course will offer multiple color stations along the route. Be prepared to get colorful and messy! All participants registered before July 20 will receive a t-shirt!

After completing the course, stay at the Park West Amphitheater for our Concert in the Park series and enjoy Burn N’ Bush. Food trucks will be onsite to enjoy dinner if you choose.

Is it hard to think of a critter more beautiful than a butterfly? It is hard to find a better place to enjoy butterflies than Nicholas Conservatory’s Secret Life of Butterflies exhibit. See butterflies from around the world from caterpillar to adult in the beautiful Nicholas Conservatory. Transportation is provided by Oregon Park District vans. When the conservatory closes for the day, we will go to the Prairie Street Brewery for dinner. Registration cost includes conservatory admission and transportation, please bring money to purchase dinner on your own.

Think “It’s a Hard Knock Life”? Agree things will be better “Tomorrow”? Join the Oregon Park District and OES for this year’s fall play, Annie Kids. Auditions will cast 32 actors/actresses with others having the chance to join the stage crew. Dates are subject to change. Fee includes a cast T-shirt. Stage crew spots are limited. Kids Summer Skate Camp

The new Broadway adaptation of the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella musical is a contemporary take on the classic tale. This show is perfect for princes and princesses of all ages.Included in the price is transportation via Oregon Park District Vans and your ticket to the show. Starlight does sell snacks and drinks if you are interested. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Skate Camp is back at The Rink! This camp is for any skill level. Skaters will be divided up based on skating ability and kids will learn new skills and work to improve existing skills. Camp will include instruction, drills, free skate time, skating games, lunch and time in the arcade. Lunch is included both days with a choice of chicken strips, cheeseburger or grilled cheese, all options include fries. Sibling discount must be done in person or over the phone. The Rink is located at 6929 W. Pines Road, Mt. Morris.

Community Garden Plots

The Oregon Park District is partnering with the Oregon Transition Program to manage the Community Garden in 2023. Eleven Community Garden plots will be available to rent and will be weeded and watered by the Transition Program. The raised beds are 4’x8’ and will be available on a first-come first-served basis. The plots are conveniently located at Veterans Park, South 10th Street, Oregon. The plots offer both residents and nonresidents the opportunity to produce fruits, veggies, herbs, flowers and more at the community garden, spend time outdoors, and share gardening knowledge and skills with others. All fees will be donated 100% to the OHS Transition Program.

Supper with Sculptures

Location: Lorado Taft Campus

Fee: Ages 10+ $18/$22 NR; Ages 3-9 $10; Ages 2 & important

Community for generations. This special event combines both modern and historic artwork. Join us for a delicious fried chicken dinner at the Lorado Taft Field campus, the sight of the historic Eagle’s Nest Art Colony. Dinner will feature two presentations, the first will be about Lorado Taft and the Eagle’s Nest Art Colony. The second presentation will feature modern day artist, Jeff Adams, speaking about his own Lincoln-Blackhawk Sculpture in Mix Park and the 10 community Art Legacy Sculptures placed in Oregon. After dinner, take a tour of the historic Lorado Taft Field Campus including the local legend Seven Muses sculpture. Children 9 and under are $10, children 2 and under are free but must register.

Adventures: Mighty Monarchs

Some small animals do amazing things, and our own monarch butterflies are starting their annual journey all the way to Mexico. Join us at the Lorado Taft Field Campus for a pizza dinner and story reading all about the beautiful monarch butterfly. Then, meet some amazing monarchs in person and send them off on their yearly migration. Children 3 and under are free but must register.

Under the Stars Family Campout-Park West

Enjoy a one night family campout in Oregon Park West. Oregon Park District will provide dinner, evening smores, and a light breakfast. Families bring their own tent and sleeping bags. Enjoy an evening of fun activities and games and spend the night under the stars in Oregon Park District’s first ever family campout. Registration is priced per family not individual.

Trip Back in Time: Old World Wisconsin

Experience the largest living history museum in the world and go back in time to late 1800’s Wisconsin. See working farms built by German, Danish, and Polish immigrant families, watch the local blacksmith at work and try your hand at time period games and activities. Set against the stunning natural Wisconsin landscape, visitors can travel by foot or take a ride on a modern tram system. Every visit to Old World Wisconsin is a different and unique experience, do NOT wait for this one. Registration includes transportation and admission for a special group experience. Participants may bring a picnic lunch or purchase lunch from the onsite café.
