Grandparents Day

Celebrate National Grandparents Day with a unique experience at Nash. We will host an evening of fun geared towards grandchildren and their grandparents. Enjoy a pizza dinner along with games and activities—including Bingo! Everyone in attendance must be registered. Children 3 years and under are free.

Toddler Gym with Nancy
Age: 1-3
Time: 11:30 am-12:15 pm
Location: Nash Rec Center River Room
Let’s head to the gym and burn off some energy! These sessions will include marching, jumping, skipping and dancing. Class is instructed by Nancy Crandall. Class includes structured play, free play and parachute time. Toddlers must be accompanied by a caregiver. Classes are held in the River Room at Nash Recreation Center.

Fee: FREE/Daily Fee for non-members
Location: Nash Rec Center River Room
Bring your child aged 0-5 to the River Room to play and meet friends. Cost will be free for passholders or the daily fee for others. Children under 5 are free. No registration required! Children must be accompanied by an adult who stays in the room with them all times.

Halloween StoryWalk Trail
Age: 2-12

Fee: FREE (children ages 2-12 must register)
Location: Park West Lower Shelter
Deadline: 10/7
The Park District invites families to join us this year for an outdoor Halloween event at Park West. Enjoy the StoryWalk Trail, reading a Halloween story and participating in a few activities between pages. Then, families will ride through the prairie for kids to enjoy a hayride and checkout our pumpkin patch. You are welcome to wear your costume and get your family photo taken. Dress for the weather. Although this is a free event, each child ages 2-12 must be registered. The trail and playground are wheelchair accessible. The ride to the prairie to pick out a pumpkin is not wheelchair accessible, however a paved trail leads to the prairie. Rain date of Wednesday, October 25th.

Howl-O-Ween Canine Costume Contest

Age: 18+ (must be with dog at all times)
Fee: $5/$6 NR (for first dog) • Location: Park West Bandshell Deadline: 10/11
The Oregon Park District is moving the canine costume contest to the Park West Bandshell. Each contestant will be able to do a “runway walk” in the Bandshell to show off their costume and can even pick their own song to walk to. Opportunities for posed pictures with your dog before or after the contest. We will have separate categories for large (approx. 35 lb. +) and small breeds (approx. under 35 lb.), and the winner will be voted on by the crowd. Dogs must be vaccinated for rabies to participate and remain on a leash during the event. An adult must be with each dog at all times, but children are welcome to join the adult for the contest. Come out to Park West for Howl-O-Ween with our canine companions. Please call or stop by Nash to register!
Flannels, Flapjacks and Santa!

Fees: Ages 0-2 FREE, Child 3-10 $10; Teen & Adult $16/$19 NR

Family meals are a wonderful part of the Christmas season, and sharing a family meal with Santa Claus makes for even more special memories. Join us in your flannel pj’s or your holiday best to dine with Santa at the Taft Campus Dining Hall. Enjoy visiting Santa and taking photos in front of the historic stone fireplace. We will have a delicious flapjack buffet with visits from Santa Claus and opportunities for posed portraits. Families can enjoy table games, carols, and making a Christmas Craft. New this year, choose between a flapjack breakfast or a flapjack dinner! Children age 2 or under are free but must register.

Letters to Santa
All Ages Welcome!

Location: Nash Rec Center Lobby
Fee: FREE-no registration required!
Just in time for Christmas, Santa’s elves will be installing a mailbox in the Nash Center lobby for letter delivery to the North Pole. The mailbox will be up from November 20 through December 15. Santa Claus will be making his list and checking it twice, so write him a letter to say you have been nice! Remember to include a postage stamp and your return address with your letter to help make sure Santa and his helpers can write back to you.

Donate Blood. Save Lives.
August 21, October 16 & December 11 • 11:00 am-5:00 pm at Nash Rec Center River Room
Give back this year by joining us in donating blood with the Rock River Blood Center in the River Room at Nash. Your donation can save up to 3 lives and you’re sure to get that amazing feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction for helping.
