Classroom of the Month

YOU ENABLED TEACHERS TO EMPOWER AND LEAD STUDENTS TOWARD SUCCESS

School supplies are the most basic tool for children's education but not always the most readily available amid budget restraints. That’s why the response is so positive when the Classroom of the Month is presented with $1,000 in supplies by the Freemasons. Ms. Sandy Shrum of Lebanon High School has been teaching for over 35 years and knows this gift will benefit students in her life skills classroom, who may have physical, social, or cognitive disabilities.

Based on the specialized needs of the students, the class continued to meet throughout the pandemic in a small-group format, unique during the campus closures. Having the right tools on hand was very important to the success of the students as they learned about budgeting, cooking, and social skills. “The end goal here is for [them] to be contributing and successful members of society,” Ms. Shrum notes about her work. “It’s a joy every day to be with them. I’d like to thank the Oregon Freemasons for this gift, and we are very appreciative – we’re going to use it for good tools for our classroom.”
