The Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in America are leading the rebuilding effort of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine. We have been blessed by the all-merciful God to serve the Holy and Great Church of Christ, to be heirs and trustees of its most sacred traditions, which we are obliged “without in the least swerving from our obligation” to hand down in all their integrity to future generations. Our power is spiritual; it is the imperishable strength of our Orthodox faith. To adopt the words of a faithful son (Constantine Vlachos) of the Church:

Chief of Staff Archon Reince Priebus am writing this letter to wish you a most sincere congratulations on your twenty-fifth anniversary as Ecumenical Patriarch. Your steadfast conviction to the Orthodox Church has set an example for Orthodox Christians around the world. As the Bible says, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord” (Jeremiah 17:7). Recently, the members of all different religious groups have been plagued by violence, contempt, and divison. Your inter-religious dialogue, promotion of religious freedom and human rights for the last twenty-five years has provided members of the Christian faith with a steadfast vision of hope. The dedication you have shown in fighting against religious persecution, pushing for the reopening of the Halki Seminary, and the reconciliation among Christian Churches has promoted the Orthodox faith and has set an example that all humans, from world leaders to ordinary members of society, should strive to emulate. As an Archon of the Order of St. Andrew, I want to express my utmost gratitude for your service and dedication to the Orthodox Church. The Church of Georgia has many times had your support, love and respect. quarter of a century ago the Lord of peace, Who has a wise dispensation towards His Church, laid on your shoulders a laborious cross of Patriarchal ministry. You were elected to the see, which is covered with the imperishable glory of the great teachers and saints: John Chrysostom, Gregory the Theologian and other holy fathers pleasing unto the Lord. Finding inspiration in “the good fight of faith” (1 Tim 6:12), fought by your blessed predecessors, and bearing in mind all the afflictions and hardships that they suffered, you carry out your Primatial ministry and overcome various temptations, taking a zealous care of the good of the Church and being firm in your trust in God. During your decades-long Primatial ministry, you have been bearing an active witness to the Orthodox faith in the non-Christian milieu, making considerable efforts aimed at promoting peace and accord among the nations, and zealously defending the human life, the environment and the whole creation of God. Such manifold activities of the Holy Church of Constantinople have received recognition both in the Christian world and beyond, thanks to, among other things, the talents that God granted to you in abundance and that you strive to cultivate.

that your birthday is December 6th, the Feastday of Saint Nicholas whose Shrine is now rising in Liberty Park, casting its light over all who come to pay their respects and tributes
at the 9/11 Memorial." In his response, Governor Cuomo said, "When Archbishop Demetrios spoke about St. Nicholas, I heard Archbishop Iakovos' voice, I heard my father's voice. I heard them saying what better place than 9-11 to have a monument, a sanctuary that says we are all one people and all are invited to one, holy place. St. Nicholas is going to be the only Church on Ground Zero with a beautiful history, there since 1916, one of the first places that the Greek immigrants would visit. The first touch stone, they would land on Ellis Island and they would take a ferry over and St. Nicholas was right there downtown so they could get off that boat and they could step into a Church where they felt comfortable and they felt reassured with the peace of
home. A beautiful history, but also a beautiful future." The Governor continued, "Because the new St. Nicholas is going to be bigger and better than ever. Saying on the side of 9 -11, the side of the greatest hate, I offer you love. That's what St. Nicholas is going to say, because love is better than hate. I offer you inclusion, because inclusion is better than exclusion. I offer you good, because good defeats evil. And I give you a place of holiness and beauty to say, 'we are one and let us come together and focus on our similarities and let's disregard our differences'. That is St. Nicholas. That's why Archbishop Demetrios stayed on this project with his quiet persistence year after year, after year. That's why the State of New York made a terrible mistake for all those years where they didn't honor their
original agreement to build St. Nicholas. And that's why as Governor of the State of New York, one of a handful of beautiful accomplishments that I'll have for the rest of my life, is being able to visit that new St. Nicholas. Knowing what it stands for. Knowing who built it. Knowing what it means to the Greeks. Knowing what it means to the world. I ask for one thing: In one corner, a little picture of two great friends, two great men who always believed we could be better than we are--Archbishop Iakovos and Mario Cuomo." Archon Michael G. The Governor has had a long family history of working with the Greek Orthodox Church. In 1990, his father, Governor Mario M. Cuomo of blessed memory, along with his gracious wife Matilda, hosted a dinner in honor of His All-Holiness Patriarch Dimitrios, attended by now Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center attended by Archons and religious, political and community leaders.

ANNUAL ARCHON WEEKEND Greek American newspaper west of Chicago; Member of the Metropolis Council of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco for over thirty years where he has been serving as Vice President since 1996; and Member of the Board and Managing Director of St. Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center. In 1996, he was bestowed the title of Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He is a member of Leadership 100, member of the Executive Committee of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Regional Commander of the Archons of the Metropolis
of San Francisco, and since 2006 he is also a member of the National Council of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. In November of 2006 with the blessing of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bar tholomew, he served as one of the two main ushers during the visit of Pope Benedict XVI at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople (Istanbul), Turkey. In December of 2006 he was elected to serve as the General Chairman of the “International Convention of Hellenes Abroad (SAE)” in Thessaloniki, Greece and in the

same year he received the highest honor by the Organization of the Retired Greek Artillery General Officers in Athens, Greece. From 2008 - 2013, he was assigned by the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle to represent the Ecumenical Patriarchate and defend its Religious and Human Rights at the annual meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) comprised of 54 European nations, the US, Canada and 15 other nations around the world in Warsaw, Poland. In November of 2009 he presented the problems facing

Religious leaders praise Ecumenical Patriarch as a great ecumenist By Junno Arocho, Esteves Catholic News Service ASSISI –As leaders of dozens of religions gathered in Assisi for dialogue and prayers for peace, they honored Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Bar tholomew of Constantinople as an exemplar of one who is so deeply rooted in his own religious tradition that he can reach out to others without fear. Jewish, Anglican and Catholic leaders paid tribute to Patriarch Bartholomew as he was about to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his enthronement as spiritual leader of the world's Orthodox Christians. Pope Francis was scheduled to participate in a celebratory luncheon for the patriarch Sept. 20 in Assisi. The Assisi celebrations Sept. 18-20 were organized by the Rome-based Community of Sant'Egidio, the Diocese of Assisi and the Franciscan friars. In a formal meeting hall at the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi Sept. 19, the leaders praised Patriarch Bartholomew
as an ecumenist, theologian and leading religious defender of God's creation. Anglican Archbishop Justin Welby of Canterbury presided over the tribute to the patriarch, and Cardinal Walter Kasper, former president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, gave the main talk, highlighting how "with great tact in difficult situations" the patriarch "always helped to overcome complicated twists and turns with the grand dexterity of a 'pontiff,' that is, a builder of bridges." "Like you," Cardinal Kasper told the patriarch, "we are certain that unity is a command of the Lord and a response to the signs of the times in a world that is increasingly united, but at the same time profoundly lacerated by many conflicts." The unity Christians hope and pray for, he said, will not be the result of "any absorption, or watering down or homogenization, but a unity in reconciled diversity."
Rabbi David Rosen, international director of interreligious affairs for the American Jewish Committee, told participants, "There is an understandable but re gret table te nde ncy among those who are deeply rooted in a religious tradition to be insular and exclusive in their world outlook. While on the other hand, all too often those who are more open to engagement with those different from themselves reflect a superficiality lacking substance." The biblical model of excellence, though, is of "a luxuriant tree," the rabbi said. It is the image of "one profoundly rooted within his own heritage and yet whose branches reach out as widely as possible providing fruit for all." Saying that Patriarch Bartholomew is such a man, Rabbi Rosen praised the patriarch's leadership in condemning all violence in the name of religion and in addressing the issue of climate change and care for creation. "We do not rejoice without at the same time recalling and sharing in the suffering of others. And, at the Ecumenical Patriarchate, we cer tainly never experience joy without remembering that we embody a tradition that has known both glory and martyrdom through the ages," he said. The celebration serves only as an affirmation "that the bishop, too, is a child of God and a son of the church," the patriarch said.

Archons participate in “Topping Out Ceremony” for Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine NEW YORK – Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine held a “topping out ceremony” on Nov 28, 2016. This traditional construction ceremony, marking the raising of the highest structural element, was led by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America and attended by representatives of the Port Authority and SKANSKA, as well as the Consul General of Greece, major donors and contributors to the project and members of the original Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church community. key individua l s o v e rseeing the rebuilding ef fo r ts, offered thanks to the dedicated men and women who have wor ked so hard to bring the project this far. Following a brief prayer service, a temporary cross was lifted into place. Once construction is complete on the dome, the temporary cross will be replaced with the permanent cross that will adorn
the top of the Church. T h e “ to p p i n g o u t c e re mony” marks an important m i l e s to n e i n th e re b u i l d ing efforts of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine.

WASHINGTON D.C. – President-elect Donald Trump has named Archon Reince Priebus, an Orthodox Christian, as his White House chief of staff come January 2017. Archon Priebus has served as state treasurer and Republican party chairman in Wisconsin, and took up the post of Republican National Convention chairman in 2011, becoming a loyal Trump campaign adviser and helping to garner broad support that led to his victory. Invested in 2011, Archon Priebus is currently an active member of St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Catheral in D.C. Learning of his appointment, National Commander Limberakis issued the following statement: It is with a great sense of filial pride and joy that the Order of Saint Andrew congratulates Brother Archon Reince Hercules Priebus on his selection by President-elect Donald J. Trump to be the White House Chief of Staff.
