General Club Rules
for you & your guests
Code of Conduct
All members and their families and guests are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is:
•Consistent with a family-friendly environment intended for the pleasure, recreation and fellowship of our members
•Courteous, considerate, respectful, and reflective of personal integrity and goodwill toward other members, guests and Club employees
•Consistent with the letter and spirit of the Club’s rules, policies and traditions
Employees are part of the Orchard Lake family. Members shall always treat employees with dignity and respect. Members shall not abuse, criticize or berate any employee in any way.
Each member and their family is responsible for ensuring they and their guests understand and comply with this Member Handbook.
Care for Club Property
Members are responsible for leaving the Club as, or better than, they found it, including cleaning up after themselves. Members are responsible for any damage, destruction or alteration they cause to Club property, and for removing any Club property without the General Manager's written consent.

Cell Phone Usage
•Cell phone calls are prohibited anywhere inside the Clubhouse except in the locker rooms
•Emergency calls may be taken if you step outside the Clubhouse
• Texting is allowed anywhere on campus provided it is discreet
•Cell phone usage is permitted outside the Clubhouse provided that members are discreet and respectful of other members’ enjoyment of the Club
Gratuities & Holiday Fund
Cash gratuities to any employee are prohibited with the exception of:
•Caddies
•Golf locker room attendants
•Golf bag room staff
•Valet attendants
•Massage therapists
•Pontoon boat captain
•Coat check attendant
The Club creates an annual holiday fund in order to provide annual bonuses to Club employees. This is an important way for our Club to express our appreciation and gratitude for our employees’ hard work and commitment to our Orchard Lake family, so we strongly encourage all members to contribute, although contributions are voluntary.
Members are allowed to collect donations from other members to be paid as a "thank you" at season end to specific sports directors and/or their staff such as for tennis instructors, sailing instructors, etc.
Member-Sponsored Parties
•Members may host parties at the Club provided they obtain General Manager's approval and coordinate all party details through the Club
•Sponsoring member must be present
•Members using Club facilities for parties are responsible for the cost of the party and all guests’ compliance with Club rules
•Non-members may not hold any parties or events at the Club without a sponsoring member, and such member shall be responsible for the guest’s conduct, activities and financial obligations

Food & Beverage
•Unless authorized in writing by the General Manager, all food and beverage consumed anywhere on OLCC’s campus MUST be purchased from the Club except for in the picnic grove. Personal beverage coolers may be used in the Adirondack chairs at the waterfront.
•Members must purchase a minimum amount of food and beverage from the Club each fiscal year ending October 31(per below). To-go purchases, taxes and gratuities do not count toward the minimum. Members will be charged each October 31 for the amount of any unmet minimum.
•Active and Social members: $1,500
•Life members: $975
•Members 80+ years old: no minimum
•Junior members: $525
Nannies & Babysitters
Nannies and babysitters are considered an extension of the member’s family so long as they are on premises caring for a member’s child, and accordingly, must follow all rules of the Club including the dress code.
Children
•Club staff are not babysitters; do not leave children for them to watch
•Members are responsible for the conduct of their children and child guests
• Unless accompanied by and adult, Children must be 14 to enter the Clubhouse and 16 to enter the golf locker rooms
•Children over 4 years old are NOT allowed in the opposite sex golf locker rooms. Family restrooms are available near the fitness center and dining room.
Entertainment
Approval for any entertainment on Club property MUST be obtained from the General Manager.
Gambling
Gambling for entertainment purposes must be approved by the General Manager and a gaming license must be obtained. All illegal gambling is prohibited on Club property.
General Club Rules
Smoking, Alcohol, Controlled Substances & Weapons
•Club employees may, at their discretion, refuse to serve alcoholic beverages to any person who appears to be intoxicated
•Instances of intoxication may be subject to disciplinary action
•Alcoholic beverages are not to be served to persons under the age of 21
•Smoking is prohibited anywhere on Club property except for the golf course and picnic grove so long as you are considerate of others and properly dispose of your waste
•Smoking or use of any cannabis products is strictly prohibited anywhere on Club property
•Controlled substances, other than those prescribed by a physician (but not cannabis products), are prohibited on Club property
•Possession or use of firearms, ammunition or any other type of weapon is strictly prohibited on Club property
Animals
Animals are prohibited anywhere on Club property, including in vehicles on Club premises, except seeing eye / service dogs that accompany members and guests and are approved by the General Manager.

Vehicles
Vehicles parked on Club property must be parked within designated parking areas. All “No Parking” and handicapped restrictions must be observed.
Vehicles shall not be parked in the circle driveway of the Clubhouse unless a valet attendant is on duty.

Guest Policy
•Guests are welcome provided that the host member (a) registers each guest with the Club, (b)pays the applicable guest fees, (c) is responsible for their guests’ conduct and compliance with Club rules and (d) is present with the guest at all times
•No person may be a guest anywhere at the Club more than ONE time per calendar MONTH (except dining and special multi-day events such as golf tournaments), with the possible exception being a house guest who is approved pursuant to Article V Section 3 of our Club’s Bylaws
•Members’ children 25 and under are considered family members and can attend the Club without restriction. Children 26 and older are considered guests subject to our guest policies
•All guests using the lower (i.e., waterfront) parking lot must use a guest code obtained by calling the front desk
Current Guest Fees
Member Billing
Timely payment of member invoices is imperative for the Club to operate. Any member with account balances 50 days past due may be AUTOMATICALLY suspended until such member pays their account in full AND sets up automatic monthly payments using the member;s bank account (ACH or credit card). All new members are required to setup such automatic monthly payments. Contact our Controller or General Manager with any billing questions.
Employee Services
•Members wishing to engage the services of Club employees off premises must make arrangements through the General Manager
•Members must not request employees to leave Club premises for any reason
General Club Rules
Publicity & Photography
•No member shall make available to any media any communication, pictures or stories concerning the Club without the General Manager's written approval
•No media members are permitted on Club property without the General Manager's approval
• Taking of photographs or videos of the Club and its grounds for commercial purposes is prohibited unless authorized by the General Manager
•No member or Club employee shall make available to any newspaper, periodical, or other media any internal communication of the Club or one that is directed solely to members. Release of pictures or stories to the public press concerning Club activities must be approved by the General Manager.
Harassment
The Club will not tolerate any discrimination or harassment with respect to its members, guests or employees including but not limited to: physical or verbal abuse; slurs or negative stereotyping; threatening, intimidating, denigrating or hostile acts; unwanted sexual advances or commentary; and insulting or obscene communications.
Complaints
Complaints against other members or employees, or Club operations, should be directed to the General Manager. Complaints against the General Manager should be directed to the Board of Governors in writing and signed by the complainant.
Enforcement & Discipline
The Board has high expectations for compliance with Club rules in order to preserve and protect the Club experience for all members as well as support our employees.
The Board has charged Club management with helping to enforce Club rules. The General Manager and all employees have the total support of the Board in fulfilling their duties. If an employee approaches you or your guest concerning a conduct or rules issue, you are expected to be courteous, non-argumentative and responsive. Please also respect fellow members who might notify you if you violate a Club rule.
The Board has established an Ethics Committee to help review and research rules violations and make recommendations to the Board for appropriate disciplinary actions. The Board or Ethics Committee may, at its option, discuss the matter with the member in question in order to understand their perspective. All decisions by the Board are final and non-appealable other than as provided under the Club’s Bylaws related to the expulsion of members.
If any member or guest violates a Club rule, such person will be subject to a written warning, limitation or loss of Club privileges, suspension, expulsion, or such other measures deemed appropriate by the Ethics Committee or the Board.
