The Stage West Festival of One Act Plays The Stage West Festival of One Act Plays is a competition based festival. It’s an opportunity for theatre companies to present short published or unpublished plays with a staging time of less than 1 hr. Plays are usually text based works written by either established playwrights or emerging new writers, directors or community theatre companies/groups. The Orange Theatre Company is proud to host the 2015 Festival. 15 plays are presented over a weekend with performances taking place in sessions— three productions on Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday morning. A range of prizes are awarded by an independent adjudicator with an awards presentation held at the end of the festival. Participating societies also receive feedback at the end of each session from the adjudicator.

Festival Guidelines »» Companies have 1 hour to stage their production from an empty stage back to an empty stage »» Running Time: must run for no less than 20 minutes or a maximum of 50 minutes per production »» No limit on number of characters in a play »» Royalties to be paid by the participating company with receipt to accompany Stage West application »» A copy of the script must be sent with the entry »» Information about cast, play & company is usually sent to the organisers with the entry form for inclusion in the program Orange Theatre Company welcomes theatre companies and schools from Australia to the Central West for this festival. OTC invites patrons to either a session or season pass to the festival to see a variety of drama, comedy, farce, suspense and new works over one weekend.
