Getting ‘YOU’ Back WITH LAURA BENNETT
Laura Bennett’s true passion is providing nipple and areola medical tattoos for women who have been through mastectomies and other breast surgeries, helping women to restore their confidence in their femininity. Laura runs a business offering permanent cosmetics and para-medical tattooing. She initially trained with Karen Betts and her team at Nouveau Contour, and has continued to train to an advanced level, becoming one of only a handful of platinum-level artists in the UK. She provides a range of services including brows, eyeliner and lip tattooing. However, Laura’s true passion is in the medical side of her work, primarily in 3D nipple areola complex tattooing following reconstructive surgery or augmentation. She takes great pride in helping women restore and rediscover their confidence and self-esteem through medical tattooing. Her patients cope with alopecia, cancer, surgical scarring, vitiligo and other conditions that have an impact on their appearance, and her experience in medical tattooing can help provide a solution. Women can require nipple and areola tattooing for multiple reasons. Following mastectomies and breast reductions, the areolae may be left uneven, misplaced, discoloured or asymmetrical. Some surgical procedures can even leave the breast without an areolae, or even a nipple at all.

The aim is to create a detailed and realistic nipple. This can be done on an entirely flat surface, creating an illusion of being 3D and is often the very last stage of a long and difficult journey for my clients. I have been running a monthly breast clinic offering this treatment to breast cancer survivors and clients who have had risk reducing mastectomies as BRCA gene carriers. This is something I’ve done mostly free of charge, but I’m limited to 1 or 2 clients a month and would really like to be in a position to provide this service either through private medical care or through charitable funding.
