Australia Day Honours Flinders car show
With Porsche's commitment to becoming an allencompassing family-oriented brand, the marque is now establishing and cultivating a racing community for women (and the men who encourage them). Porsche Centre Brighton recently hosted the inaugural Women Who Race Day at Sandown International Motorsport Park on Monday 7 February – and by all accounts, the event was a roaring success.
All participants demonstrated an intense energy on the day, exploring and further developing their driving skills within a secure and controlled environment – all under the watchful eye of Courtney Prince, driver in the 2022 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia. Porsche Centre Brighton will continue to develop events to inspire more women to form connections and valuable networks, but most importantly to celebrate their many achievements.
Heartfelt thanks to all who attended and participated in the inaugural ‘Women Who Race Day’.
One of the most prestigious awards, the Australia Day Community Event of the Year, has been presented to the Flinders Motoring Heritage show. The event is run annually by the Flinders District Lions Club, with Porsche Centre Brighton one of the event's main sponsors. Not only does this event entice motoring enthusiasts from all parts of Melbourne to explore the Mornington Peninsula, it more importantly raises funds for Peninsula Health. So far, the event has raised more than $100,000 over five years and helped to purchase vital medical equipment such as a foetal heart monitor for the Special Care Nursery at Rosebud Hospital. More than 200 veteran, vintage, historic, and modern motor vehicles are displayed throughout Flinders Village, with visitor numbers now reaching more than 2000 each year. In 2021, the winner of the Best Modified Car was a 1972 Porsche ST owned by Clyde Boyer. Come and see what an exciting array of vehicles will join the 2022 lineup when the event is held on Easter Sunday 17 April.
