Welcome to our first edition of Turbo Magazine – from our CEO

Let me explain a little bit about my passion for Porsche.

Like the founder of Porsche, I am Austrian. Coincidentally, I grew up only minutes away from the Porsche family holiday home. A distinct highlight of my childhood was having the chance to see the family’s beautiful Porsches – my memorable introduction to this timeless marque.

After buying my first Porsche in my early thirties, I remember thinking: “Now I am part of the Porsche family, too.” Anyone buying a Porsche knows that feeling of becoming one of the ‘Porsche family’.

Although my background is not in engineering, my abiding passion for technology has fuelled a passion for the distinctive way German companies – particularly Porsche – engineer their cars.

These are the reasons why I am so proud to represent Porsche in Australia with the PM Group.

Before I became involved with Porsche, my background was in solar power. The auto industry’s rapid transition to electrification is a huge benefit, because the electrification of cars will play a defining role in our future.

The Porsche Taycan electric car will be launched in Australia around October next year. We will be fully prepared, so we can provide customers with the experience they expect from Porsche.

At the PM Group, we are proud to know our customers by their first names. Their passion for Porsche allows us to create a strong connection, which we hope will become even stronger with our beautifully designed new facility and expanded product range.

Our building’s refurbishment has given us the perfect opportunity to prepare for Porsche’s electric future.

Our new workshop has been custom-designed for electric cars – Australia’s first such purpose-built facility. By this time next year, we will have a dedicated supercharger to quickly power up the Taycan at the dealership. As part of our service, we will help our customers design and install their own charging infrastructure, which will form an integral part of their mobility.

Our new dealership is designed with every customer in mind, encompassing those with a love of classic or current Porsches; new customers interested in our range of hybrid cars; existing customers moving to our electric Taycan; and many more with their own passion for Porsche.

I would like to personally invite you to visit our new facility, enjoy our hospitality, and sample some of Melbourne’s finest coffee.

My aim is to vastly improve our sustainability and environmental footprint. The installation of solar panels at our new dealership will take us off-grid during the day. Other initiatives including our new energyefficient glazing system and careful consideration of waste separation/ disposal will assist us in our goal to ‘green’ our workplace practices to make a positive environmental impact.

orsche Centre Brighton is now every bit as eye-catching as the cars encased within its new streamlined shape, which more than doubles its predecessor’s footprint.

Celebrating our ten-year anniversary, Porsche Centre Brighton now has the biggest street frontage of any Victorian Porsche dealership.

Wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glazing, the new showroom allows all passing foot or car traffic to take in the sight of Porsche’s expanded range within.

The showroom is visible day and night with customised lighting inside and out, making browsing a pleasure. By day, you can view every model in the airy, light-filled showroom. The new showroom’s cavernous floor contains enough space to display 17 new Porsches, with plenty of room to enable customers to comfortably examine every Porsche vehicle in the current range. It’s now a breeze to walk through Porsche’s entire range at a single dealership.

“We now have 14 customer parking bays, up from three. We also have clearly marked customer parking, with the aim of keeping these available at all times. We encourage our customers to just pop in to say ’hello’ or have a coffee with us, which is now a natural part of the experience.”

Every member of the Porsche Centre Brighton team, has been selected especially for their customer service practice and love of the marque. They are always on hand to help – unobtrusive but ready with the most current information, a cold or hot drink, or a set of keys for a test drive.

“Our expanded used car area is another new development. We can now hold between 20 and 25 cars undercover, with our used car manager stationed conveniently in the same area.”

Accessibility is everything. Enter direct from the undercover parking area through automatic glass doors into the main showroom, or from the front entrance via the Porches on display.

Whether starting from the left or right, you will have access to the best Porsche has to offer.

“We now have two delivery bays – and most importantly, a private area within the dealership. We are taking people beyond the showroom’s hustle and bustle for a serene moment.”

Every aspect of the new facility – far beyond the showroom – has been reviewed, revised and improved with the aim of enriching each customer’s experience. Parking, often challenging on busy Nepean Highway, is taken care of with a concierge and dedicated onpremises customer car bays. Once parked, your car is protected from passing traffic.

“We now meet each customer at the service driveway and have expanded our service area. Our overall capacity has increased dramatically in this area, ably supported by Tina, our new appointment in Service Reception.”

Dotted around the showroom are several displays housing accessories and various options – from wheels styles to car colours and fabrics, as well as Porsche-branded pieces such as cup sets, key rings, luggage and g apparel.

The giant video wall is a further point of difference in our new showroom. With Porsche TV – the company’s dedicated channel – streamed live, customers can experience the thrill of motor racing and view cars being built.

In order to better serve customers and the service area, Porsche Centre Brighton has expanded its parts department – now 150% larger to hold a far greater range of fast-moving stock.

“The refurbishment provided an optimal opportunity to redesign our parts area so that we can hold far more fast-moving items – so when a motorsport or regular customer visits, we have the part in stock.”

“For Porsche Car Club events and company functions, we use the video wall extensively.

We can even link up to the Porsche factory in Stuttgart, Germany. The imagination runs wild.

If we are hosting the Victorian Owners’ Club, and someone asks why the choice was made to style the Cayenne Coupé in such a way, we can say: ‘Hang on, let’s ask the designer.’ All of a sudden, the Cayenne Coupé’s designer is on the line.”

Of course, buying or servicing your Porsche is not the only reason to visit Porsche Centre Brighton.

The opportunity to talk with other Porsche owners or have a friendly chat with staff is always on the cards as well. With a new inhouse bar and café for sitting down and socialising, what could be easier?

Hidden behind the showroom (but not out of sight) is the Porsche Service Centre – a beautifully clean, neatly arranged new area, with new hoists and highly trained technicians using the most advanced servicing equipment necessary to keep a Porsche perfectly maintained.

It is even possible to see your own car being attended to in between browsing what’s new in the showroom.

“Our new breakfast bench area provides a congenial meeting place, fuelled by the very best coffee. The breakfast bench offers the perfect social environment for customers and staff alike to take a break, make a coffee and chat in a relaxed and friendly environment.

And for those needing to attend to work, power points and USBs are built into the bench area.”

“From a workshop point of view, we have gone from 11 to 16 hoists. The Hunter wheel aligner is simply one of the best machines available.

Workshop One is now open and visible so customers can see inside. The Express Service Bay, for example, is fully in view. Customers will be able to see the synchronised express service in action.”

With Porsche’s visionary Taycan electric sports car well on its way to the production line, this was also an opportune time to ensure the new Porsche Centre Brighton not only boasts impeccable environmental credentials, but also made allowance for this new breed of sports car that will soon land on our shores. Solar panels to power a new supercharger have been incorporated into the new facility’s design, in readiness for the new Taycan when it arrives in 2020.

ever would you think of a Porsche as a gym junkie, these are not traditional muscle cars but that’s only because of conventional thought, and Porsche could never be accused of being conventional. Neither is the all new Porsche Cayenne Coupé.

Three generations ago, in 2003, Porsche charged onto the SUV arena with its stylish and sleek Cayenne. Now in 2019 it has revealed its latest development that fuses muscle with ultimate sports car styling; the Cayenne Coupé reveals a dynamic design that is both muscular and elegant at the same time.

Porsche’s Cayenne Coupé is longer, lower and wider at the rear, delivering a more purposeful athletic stance and is available in g three models: the Coupé, the Turbo S Coupé and the highly refined Turbo Coupé.

Cayenne Coupé’s Exterior DNA What sets any Porsche apart from its rivals is its DNA, a blend of on-road poise and a distinctive, smooth silhouette. The Cayenne Coupé is no exception with its steeper roof line falling to the rear and accentuated by an adaptive rear spoiler.

Aerodynamic experts at Porsche combined a fixed roof edge spoiler with a new adaptive rear spoiler that extends by 135mm at speeds of 90 km/h and up, increasing the downforce on the rear axle.

This ensures enormous driving stability at high speeds, but also increases lateral dynamic reserves.

While the Coupé is quite obviously part of the Cayenne family and shares a distinctive front aspect, all other body parts are redesigned and developed for this model, and this model only.

From the side it is by far the sportiest model in the range with a shallower front pillar and windscreen courtesy of a front roof line that has been lowered by around 20mm. To add to its muscular but taut appearance are redesigned rear doors and broad wings.

A new standard panoramic fixed glass roof spans from front to rear and not only adds to the car’s sporty looks but allows all passengers, front and rear, to benefit from an extraordinary sense of interior space.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupé

A contoured carbon roof is optionally available for the Coupé with a contour that gives the roof the characteristic look reminiscent of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The carbon roof is part of three g lightweight sports packages.

Primarily he and his team source parts direct from Porsche AG but as 70% of Porsches that have ever been built are still on the road then it’s sometimes a more difficult task than at first glance. No Porsche customer has a request too difficult for the parts team.

“I source and supply whatever parts and accessories are needed. Anyone who owns a Porsche is our customer, one way or another we will try to source any part they need.”

Cayenne Coupé’s Core Strength Despite its sleek and sporty body the new Cayenne Coupé offers generous accommodation for four with exceptional headroom as rear passengers sit 30mm lower. At the front, new eight-way electrically adjustable sports seats with integrated head rests offer comfort with optimum lateral support.

The Cayenne Turbo Coupé features 18-way sports seats which are available in the other models as an option. Comfort seats with a 14-way adjustment, which can also be equipped with a massage function, are also optional.

Standard at the rear are two contoured individual seats, or alternatively it is available with three seats.

Rear seat backrests offer 10 adjustment positions from 11 to 29 degrees and the seats can be split in a ratio of 40/20/40 and folded forwards to create a flat loading floor.

Porsche’s Advanced Cockpit with an instrument cluster of a tachometer flanked by two seven-inch full-HD displays faces the driver. All key functions are conducted via three core components: the full-HD touch display of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, the multifunction steering wheel and the touch-sensitive Direct Touch Control function in the centre console.

Easy and intuitive to operate, the system adjusts to personal preferences.

Using predefined tiles, drivers can easily create a home screen with preferred functions, such as favourite radio stations or phone numbers.

Up to six profiles can be configured with just a few taps and swipes. The display recognises handwriting so navigation destinations can be written on the screen.

All driving dynamics are determined via the control centre, including offroad modes displayed in 3D against the backdrop of selected scenery: gravel, mud, sand, rock.

The Cayenne Coupé and Cayenne S Coupé are equipped with the HiFi speaker system, while the Cayenne Turbo Coupé comes with the BOSE Surround Sound System. Depending on the system a crisp, pure sound will emanate from either 14 speakers and a subwoofer with 14 amplifier g channels, or 21 speakers a 400 watt subwoofer.

Cayenne Coupé’s Vigorous Character

“Despite its bulk and mass, the Cayenne Turbo Coupé rules the 138 to 200km/h domain like no other ‘CUV’.

With 770Nm available from 2000 to 4500rpm, and a fast-acting eight-speed transmission, only its considerable drag causes it to fall behind the 911 at the end of a straight.”

Porsche offers up three of its high-performance engines to the Cayenne Coupé range: one a 3-litre V6 turbocharged engine, another a 3-litre bi-turbo engine, but for ultimate muscle power, the top-of-the-range Cayenne Turbo Coupé has a 4-litre V8 engine with twin-turbos putting out 404 kW and maximum torque of 770 Nm. For adrenaline at the push of a button, the Coupés come with the Sport Chrono Package just like in the renowned Porsche 911. Without your hand leaving the steering wheel, you can choose any of four settings: Normal, Sport, Sport Plus or Individual.

To hustle the engines along is an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission that combines lightening fast shifting with comfortable and smooth starting characteristics. In “Normal” mode, it shifts to the higher gears quickly and smoothly to save fuel but in “Sport” setting it delivers lightening fast gear changes with short acceleration times.

As expected from Porsche, these new engines are packed with technological innovations not just in execution but also in manufacturing techniques.

Nimble and agile have always been traits of any Porsche and the Cayenne Coupé provides unparalleled cornering which coupled with Active Porsche Traction Management endows it with agility and vim.

In the flesh the Porsche Cayenne Coupé range is stunning in all aspects of its design from its superior mechanical dynamics to its outstanding styling.
