The Organising Team Open Garden Squares Weekend is organised by the London Parks & Gardens Trust. Our part-time office staff are supported by a volunteer organising team, without whom the event would not be possible.

Area Coordinators and Organising Team Volunteers Our dedicated team of Area Coordinators are essential to the delivery of Open Garden Squares Weekend. They work throughout the year to find wonderful new gardens across London’s Boroughs and maintain precious relationships with regular participants. We would like to say a huge thank you to our team for everything they do.

With more than 130 gardens and green spaces opening across London for Open Garden Squares Weekend, the London Parks & Gardens Trust is proud to state our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and creating a greener and more sustainable event. The London Trust aims to cultivate, celebrate and champion London’s green spaces, and one of the most important ways in which we can achieve these three goals is by ensuring that we tread carefully through our natural environment, and leave it richer than when we came.

Initiatives in place for 2019 include: • a switch to recycled paper and recyclable plastics in our print materials; • guidance for gardens to recycle materials and to use biodegradable tableware for refreshments;

If you are interested in volunteering as part of our team of Area Coordinators, we would love to hear from you. Please email: office@londongardenstrust.org

• and introduction of walk routes to encourage visitors to enjoy the weekend on foot wherever possible.

For the first time, this guidebook is printed on 100% recycled, uncoated paper, using vegetable-based inks. Our guidebook print contractor, Belmont Press, is EMS-certified under ISO-14001 and has recently implemented solar energy systems, as well as redirecting heat produced by printing presses, reusing waste water, and increasing the efficiency of lighting systems.

Supporting Contractors

The outdoor banners that you will see outside many gardens are printed on 100% recyclable HDPE (the substance used to make plastic milk bottles). In contrast to standard non-recyclable banner material – PVC – HDPE is environmentally stable and gives off no harmful fumes. It can be recycled kerbside or by return to our banner print contractor, Greenhouse Graphics (GHG), which is also EMS-certified under ISO-14001 and was the first UK commercial printer to install solar panels, introduce hazardous waste-free colour printing and offer a carbon calculator for printed products.
