Mission Statement The Boston Gay Men's Chorus uses the power of music to create a more tolerant society. Description The BGMC plays a crucial role in fostering social change. Since our humble beginning in 1982 we've performed for more than 162,000 people; our history of outreach is unparalleled, having presented concerts in more than 50 towns across Massachusetts and New England; and we have collaborated to raise more than a quarter of a million dollars to support AIDS services, civil rights, and GLBT youth. We have also stood up to right-wing protests from Vermont to Poland and replaced the hate with glorious harmony and a positive, affirming image of the gay community. In addition to our subscription concerts, which reach more than 9,000 patrons annually, the Chorus performs more than a dozen outreach events each year. For the BGMC, every outreach event is an opportunity to build bridges of understanding among all people.

Mission Statement The Gay and Lesbian Helpline of the Fenway Community Health Center provides anonymous and confidential support, crisis intervention, referrals, and information to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered community. Description Volunteers, as part of a community health center that is geared to the GLBT community, offer a free and confidential helpline with a national 1-800 number. We also house the Peer Listening Line that is youth staffed for GLBT youth.

Description Many GLBT Jews feel alienated and hurt by the Jewish community. It can be as simple as a youth group leader who lets a homophobic slur go unanswered, a synagogue membership form that does not recognize samesex couples as families, or a transgender Jew who must endure stares while working out at the JCC gym. In this environment, queer Jews have to choose one identity and hide the other. Keshet provides a space where GLBT Jews can be our full selves. We offer avenues of connection to Jewish identity and experience -- Jewish learning, celebration, and vibrant community. At the same time, we work for transformative change to bring about a Jewish community that fully welcomes and includes all of us. "Inclusion" does not mean tolerance or passive acceptance, but rather a proactive embrace of GLBT Jews and an openness to the unique perspectives and insights we bring.

Mission Statement The Network/La Red was formed to address battering in lesbian, bisexual women, and transgender communities. Through a) the formation of a community-based multicultural organization in which battered/formerly battered lesbian, bisexual women, and transgender folks hold leadership roles; b) community organizing, education, and provision of support services; and c) coalition-building with other movements for social change and social justice, we seek to create a culture in which domination, coercion, and control are no longer accepted and operative social norms. Description The Network/La Red has become a national resource and model for battered women's programs, batterer's intervention programs, and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender organizations beginning to address battering in lesbian, bisexual women, and transgender relationships. We take calls from individuals, groups, researchers, and media from all over the United States and around the world seeking technical assistance and information on battering in lesbian, bisexual women, and transgender communities. In 1992, The Network/La Red began to offer free services for battered lesbians, bisexual women, and transgender folks. Today these services have expanded and include a Hotline, Safe Home program, Advocacy program, and Organizing/Outreach program. All services are wheelchair, bilingual, and TTY-accessible. ASL interpreters, air filters, and reimbursement for child-care are available as needed. The Safe Home program provides emergency shelter to battered lesbian, bisexual women, and transgender folks (LBT) and their children.
