The Ontarion visits Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland A NIGHT OF CHILLS AND THRILLS TIANN NANTAIS & LESLIE THOMPSON
F
irst introduced in 2005 under the name Fearfest, the Halloween Haunt event at Canada’s Wonderland provides visitors with spooky attractions and chilling thrills on weekend evenings for the month of October. Many of the theme park’s rides and attractions stay open for Halloween Haunt, with the addition of over a dozen haunted mazes and scare zones that leave you with goosebumps — and very likely nightmares. This past weekend, two members of The Ontarion staff visited Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland to put their nerves, and their bladders, to the test. How did you feel heading into the Haunt? Tiann Nantais: I was ready. There’s something about getting the crap scared out of you that

makes me really happy.
Leslie Thompson: As some-
one who can’t even watch Stranger Things without having nightmares, I was a bit worried. W h a t d id y ou t h i n k o f the haunted house you went through? TN: It was scary, but honestly I expected it to be a lot worse. I wish we would have done a scarier one: something with creepy children, or people with knives. LT: It was okay! It wasn’t as scary as I’d expected. The theme was sci-fi and only half of the house seemed to follow this theme. Parts of it really did scare me, though! What was the scariest part of
the evening? TN: Being followed by a medieval zombie who just wanted to “talk.” I didn’t trust her. LT: There was a scene in the haunted house in a bathroom with white tiles, and a woman dressed in white who emerged from the shower. She wouldn’t stop staring at me. Would you go back? TN: Absolutely! But I would want to do a few more haunted mazes on my next visit. LT: Begrudgingly, I admit that yes, I would.
