ENTREPRENEURSHIP COMPETITION FOR SCHOOLS AND YOUTH GROUPS

O Empreendedor is an entrepreneurship contest that brings together entrepreneurs, startups, business angels, business angel associations, investors, venture capital and incubators. It intends to be the link and networking axis between the main players in the national market, identifying and promoting entrepreneurship throughout the national territory, among the youngest.

O EMPREENDEDOR HAS AS MAIN OBJECTIVES:

• Reinforce and boost the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem;

• Reinforce and promote the role of schools in identifying and promoting their students’ entrepreneurial skills;

• Integrate and bring municipalities closer to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in their region;

• Identify, support and encourage business ideas with great potential;

• Contribute to the acceleration of business ideas;

• Empower with know-how and investment the start-ups that are better prepared;

• Inform and prepare those interested in undertaking for the opportunities and challenges;

• Incorporate and work the theme “Entrepreneurship” in the country’s schools;

• Create space for networking among the participating community: entrepreneurs, startups, municipalities, business angels and associations of business angels, investors, venture capitals and incubators.

As a national contest, it involves the active participation of municipalities, and was created so that entrepreneurship appears in anyone’s life and in particular in schools and to the youth.

THE ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF THE MUNICIPALITIES IS FUNDAMENTAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS COMPETITION, BOTH IN TERMS OF INVESTMENT, AS WELL AS IN TERMS OF DISSEMINATION AND DELIBERATION, AS:

• The first stages take place in each Municipality;

• Recognition of the entrepreneurial ecosystem itself;

• Involve and encourage entrepreneurship in the region itself, starting with secondary schools,

• polytechnics and universities;

• Financial support for the development of the contest in your municipality.

• 2 Municipality Members will be judges for the first phase.

This contest works in two stages, divided into three categories, with the first stages taking place locally in each of the adhering Municipalities, in order to stimulate the active participation and involvement of the Municipality, and to determine the best projects/start-ups that will move on to the next phase, involving political power, business associations, schools, polytechnics, universities and companies. After the local phase, the best, classified by category and by Municipality, move on to the national final, a phase in which the best projects from all the participating Municipalities will compete.

THERE WILL BE 3 CATEGORIES:

1. Secondary Education ( from 14 years of age) and Vocational Education students;

2. University and Polytechnic Higher Education Students;

3. Projects and Startups under 3 years old (or Spin-offs).

Depending on each category, an entrepreneurship methodology is implemented. In the various phases of each stage there will be a pre-defined panel of judges. In each Municipality, this panel will ideally be composed of: 2 Municipality Members; 2 Entrepreneurs of the Municipality; 2 Business Angels and 1 Finy Ventures Member. In the national final, the panel of judges will be composed of: 4 Entrepreneurs; 4 Business Angels; 1 Member of Finy Ventures.

TO PARTICIPATE:

• Students develop a business idea related to a topic suggested by the teacher;

• Learning is done in a practical way, in the construction of a business model, feasibility study and sustainability of the idea;

• Elaboration of a market study based on interviews with the target audience of the idea;

• Construction of a prototype or simulation of what makes the project a reality;

• Preparation of Marketing, Operational and Financial plans.

To participate in the contest, the entrepreneur only needs to register his idea or startup on the website O EMPREENDEDOR.
