World’s Largest Elkhorn Arch – Afton — Constructed in 1958, the arch contains over 15 tons of antlers, totaling 3,011. Intermittent Spring – Afton — North America’s only known cold water spring geyser and the largest of the three known fluctuating springs in the world. It is said that Indians traveled great distances to cure their ills by bathing in the ”spring that breathes.” Appearing as though the spring is being turned on and off manually, the intervals occur every 18 minutes during the fall and winter. The 45-minute hike along a well developed footpath to the spring also makes for splendid viewing of nature and wildlife. The 5-mile canyon drive along Swift Creek to the spring is spectacular in itself.
