The event in Porto is one of the contests that makes the most sense out of the whole portuguese tour. This is where the surfing public really shows up to see the best of surfers in Portugal. In 2012 the waves showed up as well with good lefts and some rights in Praia Internacional and the level of surfing was really impressive. Once again Vasco Ribeiro took out the event but the real winner was everyone who watched! Porto definitely Rules!

A 9th place finish is a poor result to a surfer like Frederico Morais but the weird heat seeding helped in this early loss.

HAVE TO DO THAT!

PHOTOS BY ONFIRESURFMAG.COM

I SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT!!!

As time goes by it is getting harder and harder to defeat Vasco Ribeiro. In a few years only a hand full of surfers in Portugal will have the capacity do so.

The righthanders breaking on the opposite side of the judges tower were hard to see and score. Gony Zubizarreta was one of few who rose above it and scored well out there!

Justin Mujica gives a new meaning to the term “fin free maneuver” by making this backside air reverse with only two of them on his board.

One of the reasons why Justin Mujica is such a stand out surfer is his ability to mix the old and new school of surfing.
