Born in the Gauteng town of Standerton, Zeno Peterson moved to Pretoria to attend art school, followed by a year in Israel. After returning to South Africa, Zeno’s lifelong intrigue for film soon launched him into a career in the industry. His desire to tell a story through visuals developed, and, after picking up a stills camera a few years ago, Zeno discovered his true passion: photography. Expressing himself best through one still image, he found a medium for self-expression in his shots. Through the lens, he began to see the world with a fresh pair of eyes. Zeno finds capturing life ‘as we experience’ – raw and unapologetic – the most rewarding part of the creative process. He does this through a direction geared towards street photography. Speaking about his work, Zeno shares: “This art is me in every way. I live it and breathe it… My art is an extension of who I am and the voice I use to speak to the masses.”
