Tarantino had countless ideas for this film, and the original script underwent several changes, so much so that he wrote 3 separate scripts before completing the final one on 2 July 2008.
Tarantino tenía infinidad de ideas para esta película, y el guión original sufrió varios cambios desde que se inició, tanto es así que escribió 3 guiones independientes, hasta terminar el definitivo el 2 de julio de 2008.
The film gets its title from the Italian film “Quel maledetto treno blindato”, directed by Enzo Castellari in 1978, which in English was called “Inglorious Bastards”. Tarantino himself said that the mystery of why he decided to use the spelling “basterds” instead of “bastards” will never be revealed, and that in fact “it makes it more interesting”. The director confesses that what he likes most about this film is “The idea that the strength of the film industry serves to fight the Nazis, and I don’t mean metaphorically, but literally”.
La cinta obtiene su título de la película italiana “Quel maledetto treno blindato”, dirigida por Enzo Castellari en 1978, y que en inglés se llamó “Inglorious bastards”. El propio Tarantino dijo que el misterio de porqué usó “basterds” en lugar de “bastards” nunca será revelado, y que de hecho “lo hace más interesante”. El director confiesa que lo que más le gusta de esta película es “La idea de que la fuerza del cine sirva para luchar contra los nazis, y no me refiero metafóricamente, sino de verdad”.
