>Main Stadium At the heart of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex at Bausher is the 30,000 seater Main Stadium with its natural grass international standard football pitch and eight lane Olympic standard athletics track. The Main Stadium is a complete arena for hosting the highest international level of track and field events and competitions. Meeting FIFA requirements, the Stadium has changing facilities for four teams and facilities for anti-doping test officials. As Oman’s prime venue for major football events, the Main Stadium is equipped with broadcast standard floodlighting for optimum TV and satellite transmission and sports commentary boxes. This is complemented by a hi-tech press conference hall. The Main Stadium’s fully staffed medical centre is equipped for diagnosis and treatment including a physiotherapy facility. For emergency hospital transfers, the Medical Centre has its own ambulance.

Indoor Halls< The design of the Main Indoor Hall meets international competition requirements for basketball, volleyball and handball. It is also used for martial arts, gymnastics and aerobics. With grandstand seating for over 1,200 members of the public and VIPs, fully air-conditioned and with floodlighting suitable for TV and satellite broadcast, the Main Indoor Hall is the perfect venue for practice, training and events throughout the year. Adjacent to the Main Indoor Hall is an annex with a 600 seater court of international dimensions which can be used for competition as well as for warm-up and training. A dedicated gymnastics and table tennis hall as well as squash courts can also be found in the Annex. The Main Indoor Hall leads out onto an indoor Piazza which is an ideal exhibition area. The Piazza accommodates an internet hot desk facility, a cafeteria, administration offices and a medical unit.

Gymnasium< Popular with elite athletes and keep fit enthusiasts alike, the gymnasium at the Bausher Complex is both well-equipped and expertly maintained.

>Athletics Complementing the eight lane athletics track in the Main Stadium is a four lane athletics training track set around the football training pitch. There are also full facilities for field event athletes to practice and compete.

Hockey< The Complex’s hockey pitch is fully International Hockey Federation (FIH) compliant and its astro-turf ensures play in all weather conditions. The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex at Bausher’s hockey pitch has proudly hosted the finals of His Majesty’s Cup for Hockey Tournament on many occasions.

Beach Sports< In response to the growing popularity of beach sports in Oman, the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex at Bausher now boasts floodlit training facilities for beach football, volleyball and handball.

<Aquatics The Aquatics Centre at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex is Oman’s premier venue for competitive swimming, diving and water polo. This world-class facility caters to all levels - from high-performance swimmers and divers to learn-toswim programmes. Its impressive grandstand seating has made it a popular choice for the hosting of numerous domestic and international aquatic meets. Built to international specifications and meeting Olympic requirements, the outdoor eight lane 50 metre pool is suitable for both swimming and water polo. The 50 metre facility is complemented by a shaded 25 metre warm-up pool which is ideal for learn-to-swim programmes. The 15 x 15 metre diving pool with a depth of 5 metres has 1 and 3 metre springboards; 5, 7.5 and 10 metre platforms.

Sports People with Special Needs< The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex at Bausher welcomes all sports people and takes a particular interest in those with special needs. While we have dedicated practice areas for paralymic sports, we take pride in the fact all our facilities are well-used by athletes of a variety of abilities. The Complex has full disabled access including ramps for wheelchairs. There is provision for disabled spectators in all our seating areas and there are dedicated toilet facilities throughout the Complex.

>Sports Medicine Centre The Sports Medicine Centre, which was opened in September 1995, is responsible for the management of all the medical facilities in the Complex. Set in its own block, the Centre is staffed by a team of experts who can provide on-the-spot diagnosis as well as a wide variety of treatment and rehabilitation for those with sports injuries. The team’s skills are put to good use treating the thousands of athletes who visit the Sports Medicine Centre every year. To make sure all sporting needs are fully taken care of, staff can arrange consultations with local nutritionists, physiotherapists, masseuses, acupuncturists and ayurvedic practitioners. A range of medical tests including ECGs, MRIs and complete lab profiles can be arranged at local clinics and hospitals.

Accommodation< Thanks to its proximity to the heart of Muscat, visitors to Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex at Bausher are able to choose from a wide variety of accommodation. The Complex itself can accommodate 156 sportsmen in 72 well-appointed and comfortable rooms which are specially furnished to meet the needs of national teams but have proven popular with individual athletes and teams of a variety of levels. The in-house restaurant works in conjunction with leading local caterers and consults on a regular basis with nutritionists at the nearby Sultan Qaboos University to ensure the specialised dietary requirements of guests are fully met. The well-equipped recreation hall with flat screen TV gives the welcome opportunity for athletes to unwind in a relaxing setting; there are separate lounges for coaches and managers. Treatment rooms are also available should their use be required.

Other Facilities< The Main Stadium, Indoor Halls and Swimming Pool all have excellent VIP facilities. Two helipads are located in the grounds. The Complex’s seminar rooms are fully supplied with audio-visual equipment and ready for use at any time for presentations, workshops and seminars. The Complex has sufficient changing facilities and referee rooms for tournaments of the highest level. Prayer rooms are strategically positioned around the Complex. Public conveniences are located throughout and food outlets are opened to serve the demands of spectators at games. The Bausher Complex has ample parking and its many gates ensure easy access.

>Football Stadium Sohar Stadium’s international standard football pitch has seating for more than 17,000, including 1,400 VIPs. To meet the demand for TV coverage of games, the pitch has state-of-the-art floodlighting and broadcast facilities. Ample team changing rooms facilitate the hosting of games and tournaments.

>Sports Halls The international size Main Multi-Purpose Sports Hall at Sohar Sports Complex has a commanding grandstand with seating for over 600 sports fans and VIPs as well as changing facilities for two teams. This Main Sports Hall is supported by an international size multi-purpose court in the Sohar Sports Complex Annex. With changing facilities for four teams, its grandstand can comfortably seat 550 members of the public and VIPs. Sohar’s two Sports Halls are venues of choice for tournaments and competitions. Sohar Club has taken advantage of their facilities to host GCC volleyball club tournaments as well as GCC National Team tournaments.

Athletics< Around the football pitch is an eight lane running track. There is full provision for both training and competition for all field events.

Hockey< Sohar Sports Complex’s hockey pitch is designed to FIH standards and its astroturf guarantees play whatever the weather. For evening games and ease of TV coverage, the pitch is fully floodlit. To accommodate the fans of this popular sport, there is grandstand seating for over 1,600 spectators and VIPs.

Accommodation< While visiting athletes can choose from several hotels in and around Sohar, the Stadium itself has team accommodation which can cater for 72 people. Single rooms are available for coaches and managers.

>Sur Sports Complex Sur Sports Complex is set in the idyllic coastal town of Sur on the stunning shores of the Sea of Oman, approximately 150 kilometres from Muscat. >Salalah Sports Complex As one of Oman’s first sporting arenas, Salalah Sports Complex has welcomed sports enthusiasts for over 30 years. With its facilities now complemented by the nearby Al Saadah Sports Complex, Salalah Sports Complex continues to cater to members of the community wanting to play and practice football, train for track and field or simply keep fit and enjoy sport. The new equestrian centre that is being developed on the site will be a valuable addition to the sports facilities of the region. Thanks to Salalah’s unique climate, local residents have the good fortune to be able to enjoy outdoor sports for many months of the year and the Complex prides itself on its good levels of use.

Horse Riding< Oman’s love of horses is ancient; it is a relationship that forms an integral part of our heritage and culture. Indeed, mention of the high quality of horses from the Dhofar region of Oman can be found in texts dating back to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. More recently, Oman has enjoyed considerable success in international equestrian events. In recognition of Salalah’s historic connection with horses and acknowledging the promise of our young riders, the Salalah Sports Complex will be the home of a new dedicated equestrian centre enabling our riders to train and practise for all three Olympic disciplines: dressage, show jumping and eventing. Of course, riders will be able to use the centre to ride for pleasure and there will be a full learn-to-ride programme. The equestrian centre will also have a flat course race track.

>Seeb Stadium Seeb Stadium is ideally located close to the centre of Oman’s capital city, Muscat. >Football Stadium With the hosting of football games and tournaments a speciality, this fully FIFA regulation compliant stadium is a premier class football facility which is home to both the Oman Football Association and Seeb Football Club. Able to seat over 12,000 spectators, the stadium is equipped with impressive floodlighting, a colour electronic scoreboard, changing rooms for four teams, two referee rooms and a match commissioner’s room. In recognition of the ever more important role of technology in sport, the football facility has grandstand seating for 200 journalists with provision for laptop use as well as a media room for press conferences. To ensure public safety, the entire stadium is equipped with the latest in CCTV technology.

>Indoor Facilities Seeb Sports Complex’s spacious and well-appointed gymnasium, equipped with a host of cutting edge equipment, ranging from treadmills to weight resistance and from cardiovascular machines to free weights, enables athletes to complete their training programmes for peak performance and members of the public to reach their desired health and fitness goals. Aerobics enjoys great popularity across the Sultanate and over 700 women regularly take part in aerobics classes at Seeb Stadium’s fully air-conditioned Indoor Training Hall.
