Lauritzen Gardens
from Visit Omaha 2021

100 ACRES OF BOTANICAL BEAUTY IN THE HEART OF OMAHA
Escape to an urban oasis along Omaha’s riverfront hills, and marvel at four-season plant displays in this hidden sanctuary where nature is its brilliant, colorful star.
Twenty themed gardens will rejuvenate and captivate, and additional features like a conservatory, model trains, and a tram ride will punctuate your experience. Plan your visit around annual events like the Antiques Show, Sweet Corn Festival, and Holiday Poinsettia Show. Before leaving Lauritzen Gardens, climb the stairs to Kenefick Park and be rewarded with two sights: Union Pacific Railroad’s Centennial No. 6900 and Big Boy 4023, two of the most powerful locomotives ever built, and a sweeping view of the Missouri River and Interstate 80 stretching toward the scenic Loess Hills.

Children’s Garden
Various paths lead to discovery in this whimsical area of bright colors, unique artwork, unusual plants, and special features that will spark kids’ imaginations.
Founders’ Garden
The attraction’s first garden representing nearly 50 varieties of hostas, a picturesque garden gazebo, and various flowers and plants.
Japanese Park
Twenty-four carved stone lanterns guide you on the path to the Sunpu castle gate and replica of Mt. Fuji in this six-acre garden.
Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory
Explore 17,500 sq. ft. of gardens under glass in this all-seasons conservatory. Move from the tropical gardens with tall palms and colorful flowers to the temperate gardens with moss-covered oak trees and azaleas.
Surprises await at every corner, like a ten-foot waterfall, a spectacular overlook of the conservatory, and a pool with water lilies.
Model Railroad Garden
G-scale model trains whir throughout a handcrafted all-natural garden peppered with reproductions of
Omaha landmarks, natural landscapes, and rolling countrysides.
Rose Garden
Nearly 2,000 rose plants bloom around the month of May, and mid-September through frost, though the garden is colorful all season long with other plantings. A collection of charming white trellises with climbing roses leads to a large arbor area, a lovely setting for weddings and special events.
Victorian Garden
This perennial garden combines dramatic characteristics of both
English and Victorian gardens and features architectural remnants from razed area buildings.
Woodland Waterfall
Nestled within a natural opening in the valley on the path to the other gardens, serenity awaits with a waterfall, two small ponds, and the charming “New Friends” sculpture.
A natural path with bench provides a respite (and photo op).
