OMAHA BAKES, CHURNS AND CONCOCTS CONFECTIONS IN EVERY CORNER OF THE CITY
Bob’s Donuts
Locals and beyond love Lithuanian Bakery’s Napoleon Torte, a three-day labor of love made of 17 layers of wafer, vanilla and lemon buttercreams, and a luscious apricot surprise in the middle. Bob’s Donuts serves up square donuts in fun flavors. Tip: The massive 10” “The Bob”’ donut is a crowd pleaser. Available by the slice, Wheatfields’ Strawberry Wedding Cake is a light, luscious treat with a local cult following.
ICE CREAM
Coneflower Creamery crafts their artisanal ice cream and treats from locally sourced milk, cream and fruit. Ted & Wally’s slow churns their super-premium made-from-scratch ice cream with 18 percent butterfat. Mail order favorite eCreamery serves 16 staple flavors of specialty ice cream, gelato and dairyfree sorbet, along with cookies, in their two parlors; customize your own flavor from home at eCreamery.com. The Hunger Block’s Milkshake is a towering, shareable creation topped with a donut, frozen treat and more and adorned in sprinkles and other goodies; the real challenge may be having to share it.
CHOCOLATE
Chocolat Abeille crafts hand-painted confections, including custom chocolate shoes, in their ornate parlor; they also host a special afternoon tea upstairs. Old Market Candy Shop whips up an array of chocolate goods, like their famous Mud Ball truffles. Find whimsical chocolate covered cherries, one of Oprah’s Favorite Things, at The Cordial Cherry. Hollywood Candy will thrill the kid at heart with retro candies, homemade fudge, and chocolates.
