Retire creatively It’s a time for you to be active, to be curious, and to get deeply involved with life. It’s a time to learn new things and to learn about yourself. OLLI at UNC Asheville offers local and visiting retirees the opportunity to experience a rich retirement by exploring their interests, acquiring new skills, and maybe even teaching peers what they’ve already spent a lifetime learning.
As an OLLI member, you will be part of the UNC Asheville community.You can learn more about the university’s facilities and participate in many campus activities. Like a university, our College for Seniors program operates on a semester schedule, four semesters each year. So even if you live here part-time, you can still take classes.
Learn joyfully This is the point in your life to challenge yourself with everything you never had time to try or enjoy before – whether you’re looking for academic classes, practical life lessons or the opportunityto take up a new craft. COLLEGE FOR SENIORS draws from members’ experiences and professional expertise, as well as from the UNC Asheville faculty, to offer four semesters of classes each year. Courses range from Chaucer to computers, foreign affairs to opera, yoga to history.
LIFE TRANSITIONS PROGRAMS include Paths to Creative Retirement and Creative Retirement Exploration Weekend, filled with thought-provoking seminars and workshops designed to challenge and inspire you to make the retirement phase of your career as fulfilling as you had always hoped. WORKSHOPS provide short-term, concentrated, hands-on learning opportunities for those with busy schedules looking for evening and weekend offerings – whether you want to learn new computer skills or practice pottery. Workshops are also available to non-OLLI members.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNC Asheville is housed within the beautiful Reuter Center. The 20,000 sq. ft. facility is filled with classrooms, a multimedia conference room, cafe and lounge areas, an art and craft studio and more.
