WOMAN x ARTIST is a project that aims to capture the perspectives of women in the arts today, and give space to their frustrations, inquiries, and reflections on an industry that has long overlooked them. Using historical precedence of the women who have occupied the international public art sphere, as well as data capturing the inequities in the art market and galleries today, this project is a look into the tangled web of identities that each woman must grapple with when she names herself as an artist. The fact remains, women are under-valued and delegitimized in the arts; this piece is in protest of these injustices. This is my senior thesis project, created during my final semester in the Journalism + Design program at The New School in Spring 2020.
