Introspective Architecture Lecture Series ‘Perceptual therapy for chaotic surroundings’

Introspective The brand and identity application for an architecture lecture series. The brand created for the event is based on a quote by renowned Architect Tadao Ando, ‘Perceptual therapy for chaotic surroundings. The visuals create are made to mimic a chaotic surrounding similar to a busy city that when combined create a solid colour, thus being the perceptual therapy. The minimalist

buildings designed by a select few Architects are designed so that when you step inside all visual noise from outside allowing the audience to begin ‘Introspection’ a process in which one evaluates their own thoughts and memories. The design is stripped back to a minimal aesthetic similar to the buildings of the designs.

Typography The typography used throughout this branding is reflective of 60s and 70s Swiss type design, stripping back any unnecessary aesthetics and delivering the information simply. The grid design is also reflective of Swiss design as it solid geometric designs which is minimal and delivers and simple message. This style of design was developed around the same time Tadao Ando, the ‘father of minimalist Architecture’ began his work.

Range The range consist of item for and received at the event. Name tags, tickets, flyers, a bookmark and a tote bag to hold the publications. The graphic has been applied to all deliverables slightly different to break the aesthetic up and not allow too much repetition.

Conference Guide The conference guide was designed as structured as possible, the type and layout is simple with no visual noise to adhere to rest of the design within the branding. The cover was made to be slightly larger so to represent the concrete surrounding the interior with the minimalist buildings found in Tadao Ando’s work. the same graphic has been applied to cover as the rest of the project but slightly larger to break the aesthetic up slightly.

Online Presence An Online presence was needed in order to promote the event. The brand aesthetic was applied throughout maintaining the minimal feel with necessary information.
