Ole Miss is 112-25 (.818 win pct.) in games played at Tad Smith Coliseum during Kennedy’s tenure. The Rebels had their 23 game non-conference home winning streak dating back to 2010 snapped last season with the loss to No. 13 Oregon. Ole Miss has won 243 of its last 300 games (.810 win pct.) in Oxford dating back to the 1995-96 campaign. The Rebels have an all-time record of 476-204 (.700 win pct.) at Tad Smith Coliseum, which opened in 1965-66. NEW ARENA ON THE HORIZON With $120 million in pledges and cash, the Forward Together Capital Campaign entered its building phase last year as Ole Miss works its way towards a new basketball arena. The building phase will focus on the Rebels’ new basketball arena and a five-story parking garage with 800 spaces serving the entire campus community. Construction on the new arena began in the spring of 2014 with the goal to open the arena no later than January 2016, which would be in time for conference action.

Game 1 | Nov. 8, 2014 Ole Miss 69, Troy 54 Oxford, Miss. | Tad Smith Coliseum

OXFORD, Miss. - Trailing for much of the game, Ole Miss went ahead 65-64 with 1:06 left in overtime on a 3-pointer from LaDarius White. Ole Miss had the ball, up one with a six second difference in shot clock and game clock before turning the ball over out of bounds, giving the ball back to Charleston Southern with 8.2 seconds left. In a furious finish, Saah Nimley missed the initial layup, but Cedrick Bowen followed with a tip-dunk with 0.1 seconds to give Charleston Southern a 66-65 overtime win in the season opener for both teams Friday night. Ole Miss was not able to overcome an inefficient offensive performance, as they went 19-of-63 from the field and 6-of-30 from 3-point range with 17 turnovers. The Rebels were also outrebounded 54-50, including 19-16 on the offensive glass. Martavious Newby led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds, one point shy of his career high. He was also efficient, going 4-for-5 from the field, 2-for-2 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Newby was joined in double figures by senior M.J. Rhett, who scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in his Ole Miss debut. White and Jarvis Summers, who fouled out with 2:06 left in regulation, added eight points each for the Rebels. Down 29-17 at halftime, Ole Miss rallied in the second half behind some timely baskets by Newby and Rhett, tying the game at 54-54 with 3:24 left on a jumper from Rhett. Charleston Southern went back ahead 57-54 before Stefan Moody sent the game into overtime tied 57-57 on a runner in the lane with 16 seconds left, getting his ninth field goal attempt to go down after missing each of his first eight. Friday night’s loss to Charleston Southern snapped a 10-game winning streak for Ole Miss in season openers, including the first loss in a season opener under Kennedy. The Rebels return to action, going on the road to play at Troy on Monday night.

OXFORD, Miss. - Jarvis Summers scored a career-high 28 points as Ole Miss coasted past Troy 69-54 in the season opener Friday at Tad Smith Coliseum. Summers was 9 of 11 in the first half, including three shots from three-point range as the Rebels built an insurmountable 39-26 halftime lead. Derrick Millinghaus added 13 points, 10 in the second half, as Ole Miss controlled the season opener for both schools. The Rebels needed the first half outburst from Summers. Troy challenged early, pulling into an 11-11 tie as Thomas capped a 6-0 run with a layup with 13 minutes remaining. The Trojans managed only two other field goals for the remainder of the half, finishing 7 of 22 from the field. Ole Miss answered with an 18-2 run to build what became an insurmountable 29-13 lead. Summers accounted for 15 of the points in the decisive surge as the Rebels built a 39-26 halftime lead. The Rebels led by as many as 18 points in the opening five minutes in the second half, 51-33. Millinghaus, with 10 second half points, hit a twisting layup with 15:46 left to provide the game’s largest margin. Troy pulled within 59-49 with 7:47 left on a jumper by Thomas, but failed to convert two ensuing possessions to get within single digits. Summers responded with a rare fourpoint play, converting the free throw after a three-point shot, for a 63-49 lead with 6:39 left and Troy never closer than 12 points again. the Rebels out-rebounded Troy 53-38 with Aaron Jones pulling down a game-high 13. The decisive margin on the boards allowed the Rebels to take 23 more shots than Troy, finishing 25 of 72 for 34.7 percent from the field.
