Engineering the Future A junior at Oklahoma Christian University, Nathaniel Moseley is pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer engineering. After graduation, he will continue his education by earning his master’s degree in electrical engineering. One day, he hopes to work on spacecraft at NASA. To do this, Nathaniel must not only graduate with multiple degrees, but he must also pass required licensing exams to ensure he complies with laws and rules of professional conduct. As an engineer, his first order of business will always be to protect the public. That’s where the Oklahoma Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (OKPELS) steps in. A state government agency, OKPELS regulates licensure for engineers and land surveyors, ensuring they adhere to the highest professional standards. In 2018, OKPELS established a scholarship at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation to benefit Nathaniel and other third-, fourthand fifth-year students who are pursuing a degree in engineering or engineering technology. “I’m grateful to be a recipient of the Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship,” said Nathaniel. “The award has allowed me to focus on my education, better myself and continue chasing my dream of becoming the best engineer I can be.”
