COUNTRY KITCHEN RECIPES

Chicken and Rice

From the kitchen of Linda Taggart, Caddo County

Ingredients 1/2 cup butter 1 cup rice 1 teaspoon onion flakes 1 teaspoon salt 1 can golden mushroom soup 1 cup water 3 chicken breasts, cut in half (alternative option: 6 to 8 pork chops)

Treasure Bars Ingredients 1 cup sugar 1 cup white Karo syrup 1 1/2 cups crunchy peanut butter 2 tablespoons margarine 6 cups Special K cereal 1 1/2 cups chocolate morsels 1 1/2 cups butterscotch morsels

Preparation/Cooking Melt butter in 9" x 13" dish. Stir in rice, onion flakes, salt, soup, and water. Place chicken over top. Bake uncovered for 1 1/4 hour at 350 degrees.

From the kitchen of Lena Henson, Okmulgee County

Preparation/Cooking Mix sugar, white Karo syrup and margarine to boil. Take off heat. Add peanut butter and mix. Pour mixture over Special K cereal. Put in an 11 x 17 sheet cake pan and cool. Melt chocolate and butterscotch morsels in microwave for two minutes. Stir and pour over the top of Special K mixture. Cool and cut.
