ATTRACTIONS | RAIL TRAIL

The Okanagan Rail Trail is a pedestrian and bicycle connection between communities of the North and Central Okanagan with access to some of the most scenic features of the valley. It is roughly 50 km in length; mostly flat and traverses stunning lakefront shoreline, orchards and farm land, urbanized areas, industrial lands and natural areas flanked with steep slopes and rock walls.

The section of the Okanagan Rail Trail north of Kelowna International Airport to the boundary of Lake Country at McCarthy Road is not yet developed and is therefore closed to public use (section between km30 and km36 on map). The Okanagan Rail Trail was constructed on the discontinued CN Rail corridor that historically connected Coldstream to Kelowna. The trail is compacted gravel, as well as asphalt in sections, and every trip offers the opportunity to learn about the Syilx (Okanagan) people, their traditional territory and to enjoy the rich natural ecosystems of the lakes and creeks along the trail.
