Fundamentals of Insurance (CAIB)
Fundamentals of Insurance is recognized in most Canadian provinces as the premier pre-licensing course for beginning general insurance brokers. IBAC - CAIB Level 2
The Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program is a national, professional designation program by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC). CAIB courses will acquaint producers more fully with major coverage that generate 90 per cent of premium volume. The courses also deal with marketing management and office operations and prepare the student for proprietor-licensing examinations. Students completing all four parts of the CAIB program are required to be an employee (or principal) of a member in good standing of IBAC to qualify for the CAIB designation. Introduction to Substance Use Counselling
Knowledge of current trends and approaches to Substance Use Counselling is beneficial for service providers such as counsellors, social workers, nurses, service aides, pastors, or probation officers assisting individuals with substance use and misuse issues. An introduction to theories of substance use, harm reduction, a strengths perspective, and specific strategies including creating relapse prevention and wellness plans will be studied. Using interactive techniques, students will be introduced to counselling skills, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, and dialectical behavioural therapy. Admission Requirement: Individuals with a history of substance misuse must be three years substance use free prior to undertaking this course.
