CAD SOSTENIBILE SUSTAINABLE CAD
Prefigurare nuovi mondi possibili. È la mission di Autodesk, multinazionale specializzata nella produzione e fornitura di software 3D per la progettazione architettonica e strutturale, che ha scelto per la nuova sede italiana un luogo cult del design milanese, intriso di internazionalismo e sostenibilità certificata d’autore Milano, via Tortona 37. Estremo tassello di un recupero edilizio a scala urbana avviato negli anni Novanta, che affronta le potenzialità di un progetto di architettura e design su un’area ex-industriale di cui non mantiene memoria, facendo della tabula rasa la sua forza rigenerativa. La bonifica dei suoli con il recupero della falda acquifera, impiegata nell’uso dell’impianto geotermico, e l’osservanza delle stringenti norme del Green Building Council in funzione della riduzione delle emissioni di CO2, del risparmio energetico e del miglioramento della qualità ecologica degli interni, consentono di raggiungere la LEED Gold Commercial and Interiors, certificazione volontaria di sostenibilità molto selettiva che include una valutazione sulla qualità degli ambienti da lavoro. Autodesk Italia se ne fa vanto nel suo quartier generale, allocato in uno degli immobili progettati da Matteo Thun e disegnato internamente da Goring & Straja, in linea con le tendenze globalizzanti di un design green, che ammicca all’alta cultura materiale dell’artigianato italiano. Dettagli singolari ne rivelano la cura. Bassorilievi sul desk della reception e sul tavolo dell’area conviviale, serigrafie sulle pareti mobili e decorazioni delle carte da parati estratte dall’archivio Autodesk sono strumenti di un linguaggio di interior rispettoso della matrice culturale dell’azienda, improntata alla internazionalità, ma attenta alle declinazioni locali dell’idioma progettuale. Arredi e corpi illuminanti (Flos, iGuzzini) di fattura italiana modellano in maniera versatile gli spazi fluidi degli uffici rispondenti alle attuali logiche di flessibilità dei rapporti di lavoro. Un’oasi di calma, silenzio e concentrazione, pur nel frizzante ambiente di lavoro che privilegia i team internazionali, sfruttando webcam, sistemi di telepresenza, e sistemi virtuali per roundtable aziendali senza l’uso di voli intercontinentali. L’abbattimento delle trasferte di lavoro è un segno delle politiche sostenibili di Autodesk, che educa i dipendenti al risparmio delle risorse e alla riduzione delle emissioni di gas serra, e interviene sulle modalità di produzione del lavoro dei suoi clienti, sviluppando software ‘sostenibili’, che semplificano procedure, contraggono tempi, e migliorano di conseguenza la qualità della vita. Attenzione prevalente anche nei confronti dei dipendenti, che hanno diritto a vivere nel comfort la loro condizione lavorativa. André Straja interpreta questo tratto della filosofia aziendale, e crea una macchina efficiente, elegante e sofisticata, una ‘sala della luce’, immersa in una dimensione di benessere, evocata dai toni pacati del muro verde, finito in stucco veneziano spatolato a mano. Elemento cardine del paesaggio di lavoro, artificio strutturale dal forte valore simbolico, attorno al quale si muove il gioco plastico degli spazi assemblati in un unico parallelepipedo, a doppia altezza e con doppio affaccio, di cui quello sulla corte interna gode del riverbero verdeggiante delle chiome arboree. Gli interni accoglienti e confortevoli, esaltati dai toni caldi del parquet, pervasi dalla luce naturale filtrata dalle doppie tende che riducono l’incidenza solare dell’87%, costituiscono lo sfondo neutro per il verde dominante. Colore dell’armonia e dell’equilibrio, mitiga il rigore spaziale dell’open space, elimina la tensione, aumenta la consapevolezza, rafforza il buon umore, incide sulla produttività. Partecipa, infine, alla definizione di una percezione positiva del luogo di lavoro, il cui layout distributivo è definito da una società specializzata, consulente di Autodesk per la suddivisione degli spazi interni. L’effetto, ricercato da Straja, è la trasformazione di uno spazio essenziale in un ambiente inusuale e rilassante, poroso, che recepisce dalle grandi vetrate la bellezza luminosa del mondo esterno, dalla cui quotidianità rimane distante, sospeso in un gioco di tonalità e riflessi, che cambiano a seconda delle diverse ore della giornata e delle stagioni dell’anno.

Projecting possible new worlds – this is the mission of the multinational company Autodesk, specialized in the production and supply of 3D software for architectonic and structural design. For its Italian headquarters, it selected an important location in Milan, with strong international orientation and certified sustainability Milano, via Tortona 37. The extreme expression of building recovery on an urban scale, a program than began in the Nineties. The potential of this architecture and design project is observed in this former industrial area; all of the features of its labor-driven past have been eliminated, with a blank canvas forming its regenerative force. The project included reclaiming the land, recovering the water tables, used for the geothermal plant, and the observation of the rigid norms issued by the Green Building Council in terms of the reduction of CO2 emissions, energy saving and improvement of the ecological quality of the interiors; all of these factors combined have allowed the project to achieve the high standards required to satisfy the LEED Gold Commercial
and Interiors, a voluntary certification for highly selective sustainability that includes an evaluation of the quality of the workplace. Autodesk Italia makes no secret of how proud it is of the achievements. The company headquarters are located in one of the buildings designed by Matteo Thun with the interiors designed by Goring & Straja, in line with the global trends for green or environment-friendly design; it was inspired by the high standard of material culture of Italian arts and crafts. Individual details reveal the care and attention paid to every component of the design. Bas-relief on the reception desk and on the dining able, silk-screened images on the mobile partition walls and the patterns of the wall-paper borrowed from the Autodesk archives, are just some of the features in this interior design language that respects the cultural matrix of the company. This enterprise has a strong international orientation but is also aware of the local influences in the design idiom. Italian-made furnishings and light fittings (Flos, iGuzzini) modulate the smooth-flowing and versatile office spaces, satisfying the current trend for changeability and flexibility in the work place. The offices
are oases of calm, silence and concentration; subtle energy abounds in this operative haven; the international teams exploit the advantages of webcam systems, telematic presence detectors and virtual programs for corporate roundtables that avoid the need for intercontinental flights. These are just some of the measures Autodesk implements in its sustainable policies; the staff are encouraged to save resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They can carry these measures through to the production methods of their clients, developing sustainable software packages that simplify the procedures, reduce the time factor and consequently improve the quality of life. The company pays considerable attention to the staff who have every right to maximum comfort in the work place. André Straja interprets this aspect of the corporate philosophy and creates an efficient machine that is elegant and sophisticated, a ‘hall of lights’ bathed in a dimension of wellness, exalted by the gentle shades of a green wall, with hand-applied Venetian stucco. It is a cornerstone of the operative landscape, a structural article with powerful symbolic importance, around which the plastic
intersection of the spaces have been inside this single geometric building, dual height and dual aspect; the façade that overlooks the internal courtyard enjoys views of the restful green foliage of the trees and shrubs. The interiors are welcoming and comfortable, exalted by the warm shades of parquet pervaded by natural light filtered by the double blinds that reduce the incidence of sunlight by 87%, creating a neutral backdrop for the predominance of the green – a color that symbolizes harmony and equilibrium; it mitigates the severity of the open space, dissipates stress and tension, increases awareness, boosts the feelings of wellness and positively impacts productivity. Lastly, it contributes to the positive impression of the work place, defined in terms of distribution layout and subdivision of the space by a specialist consultant. This wonderful effect styled by Straja transformed the basic space into an ambience that is unusual, relaxing, porous; the luminous beauty of the outside world can be perceived through the large windows; the everyday routine is kept at arm’s length, suspended in an effect created with colors and reflections that change depending on the time of day and the changing seasons.
