about the artist:: whitney elizabeth was started by boston, massachusetts-based artist whitney somerville in 2004. always dabbling in creative ventures, and with a love for all things patterned, whitney decided to design and produce a line of products to share her passion for the unique and handmade. she fell in love with surface design and enjoys pushing herself to create new patterns and products. after working for a surface designer in austin, texas, then studying surface design in london, england for two years, she began focusing her creative business on textile and surface design, inspired by her surroundings - both in nature and urban settings.
