London’s largest free flower festival blooms with this year’s theme ‘Floral Feasts’.

Chelsea blooms once again with London’s largest and most prestigious free-to-attend flower festival, Chelsea in Bloom, taking place from 20-26 May – and it’s going to be delicious!

Returning with the theme ‘Floral Feasts’, Chelsea will be transformed with floral creations adorning the frontages of over 110 shops, restaurants and hotels that celebrates two of the things that Chelsea is most famous for: botanical heritage and fabulous food.

The neighbourhood’s streets will be an explosion of floral art that encapsulates our culinary favourites, as participants compete for the coveted award of ‘Best Floral Display’. Central installations can be found across the area and for the first time, event t-shirts will be on sale from the information point on Sloane Square, will all proceeds going to this year’s charity partner, The Felix Project.

Celebrate the return of the warm weather with something delicious at the much-anticipated return of Summer in Sloane Square.

Sip on cocktails and iced coffees, share Mediterranean mezze and pizza, and enjoy the delights of summer at one of the four pop up bars from The Royal Court Theatre, The Botanist, Côte and for the first time, Sloane Street’s stylish Azzurra. With ample seating for over 240 guests, Summer in Sloane Square is open seven days of the week from 11.30am to 10pm, and is set to be the destination of the summer .

Fragile Beauty

An incredible display of 20th and 21st Century photography comprising over 300 rare prints from more than 140 of the world’s leading photographers, discover Sir Elton John and David Furnish’s private collection, many of which are on public display for the very first time. The V&A’s largest temporary showing of photography to date and produced in partnership with Fucci, Fragile Beauty spotlights fashion, reportage, celebrity and the male body.

Starring HBO’s House of the Dragon’s Emma D’Arcy, Bluets is a story about depression and desire, pleasure and pain, and a person possessed by a lifelong obsession with the colour blue. Communing with artists like Joni Mitchell, Derek Jarman, Andy Warhol and Billie Holiday, blue is their constant companion as they navigate the devastating pain of a life-altering heartbreak.

Lucie first came to prominence when she reached the finals of ITV’s The X Factor in 2009. Quickly winning the hearts of the nation, she became a household name to the millions of viewers who supported her and watched her perform week after week. Since then, Lucie has performed worldwide as a solo artist and in many musical theatre productions to great success including roles in Waitress, Legally Blonde and Wicked and in Les Misérables in which she currently stars at Fantine.

Family Chocolate Making Workshop

Calling all chocoholics, the Chelsea Physic Garden is hosting a family friendly chocolate making workshop where you can learn how cacao beans grow, how they are made into chocolate, and create your very own chocolate treats with a selection of herbs, flavours, and spices. Tickets cost £20 per child and £25 per adult.

World Chelsea Bun Awards

The 6th edition of the World Chelsea Bun Awards returns this May with the theme ‘Floral Feasts’. Bakers of all levels can enter, choosing from three categories from amateur to professional and those under-18, with the live tasting competition taking place in store for all to enjoy.

Start with a Garden Salad, featuring rainbow radishes, asparagus, soft boiled hen's egg, voila flowers, and an elderflower vinaigrette before a main course of luxurious Garlic Baked Cornish Lobster (half or full). For those with a sweet tooth, an English Strawberry Parfait with Coates & Seely English Sparkling Wine jelly, yogurt and orange bavarois is a delightful finale.

The Chelsea Flower Show set menu will include the likes of Cured Beetroot and Dill Salmon Gravadlax, Roasted Tomato Soup, or Isle of Wight Asparagus and Cornish Crab Mayonnaise to start, followed by mains of Poached Cod with Langoustine Risotto, Landes Chicken Breast or Wild Nettle and Parmesan Gnocci. To finish add a Crème Caramel, Strawberry Soufflé or a Dark Chocolate Fondant for the ultimate sweet treat. Drawing inspiration from their 'Floral Feast' display and from Penhaligon's Liquid Love perfume, known for its heart hotes of luxurious rose, combining floral elegance with aromatic sophistication, they introduce the Bees Bliss cocktail, an enchanting blend of Tequila, Campari, Lemon, Honey Syrup and Rose Water. Don't miss out on this captivating cocktail available during Chelsea in Bloom week.

A twist on their famous hot dogs, try the ‘Seadog’ or for something slightly lighter, the Chelsea in Bloom Chopped Salad offers a fresh take on a feast. What’s more, for every Sea Dog and Chopped Salad devoured, £1 will be donated to Chelsea in Bloom’s charity partner, The Felix Project.

Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography

17 May – 6 October | The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace

Over the past 100 years, no artistic medium has had a greater impact on the royal image than photography. This exhibition will chart the evolution of royal portrait photography from the 1920s to the present day, bringing together more than 150 photographic prints, proofs and documents from the Royal Collection and the Royal Archives. The photographs presented in the exhibition will be vintage prints – the original works produced by the photographer, most of which have never been on public display.

The Decorative Fair has rightfully earned its strong reputation as the UK’s must-visit event for interior designers, with over 130 specialist dealers showcasing every discipline of antiques, fine and decorative art and 20th century design, dating from the 1700s to the 1970s, at a wide range of price points. Romeo & Juliet

11 May – 3 August | Duke of York Theatre

Tom Holland is Romeo in Jamie Lloyd’s pulsating new vision of Shakespeare’s immortal tale of wordsmiths, rhymers, lovers and fighters. Super-director Jamie Lloyd’s production of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ will star Tom Holland, aka Spider-Man himself, in his first stage role since a lengthy stint in ‘Billy Elliot’ as a child actor. All production details have been kept closely under wraps but following the sell-out success of Lloyd’s Sunset Boulevard, audience members are sure to be in for a visually awe-inspiring masterpiece.
