In honor of Women’s History Month, OETA is proud to feature programs that celebrate women’s stories. These programs offer inspiring and entertaining tales of female empowerment, resilience, and success. From fan favorites like Call the Midwife, and Sanditon, to the critically acclaimed Marie Antoinette, there’s something here for every viewer.
First up is Call the Midwife. It’s 1968, and the nuns and nurses from Nonnatus House return for more midwifery and family life. The midwives welcome a new nun, Sister Veronica, and tension in Poplar arises following the effects of Enoch Powell’s “Rivers of Blood” speech. Call the Midwife premieres Sunday, March 19 at 7:00 pm.

Next up, is the much loved Sanditon series. MASTERPIECE has announced that the upcoming third season of Sanditon, the show that ignited a passionate fanbase and was described by the press as “lush and fun” (The New York Times) will be its final season. Susanne Simpson, Executive Producer of MASTERPIECE says, “Sanditon has been an incredibly special series for MASTERPIECE, and we know it has found its way into the hearts of countless fans. While we are sad to say goodbye to the series, we know our audience has a lot to look forward to in this new season.” Fans will be greeted by returning characters plus joining the series are several new characters that will bring drama, laughter,and romance along with them. The third and final season returns viewers to the seaside resort of Sanditon for the conclusion of Charlotte and Georgiana’s stories. Sanditon premieres Sunday, March 19 at 8:00 pm.

Lastly, we bring you an all new program, Marie Antoinette, which chronicles the infamous historical figure’s beginnings from a young dauphine to the last queen of France. The new series follows a young Marie Antoinette as she learns the rules and secrets of the court and attempts to recreate Versailles in her image: free, independent and feminist. But her successes provokes jealousy and rivalry, and her royal enemies will do everything they can to bring her down. The eight-episode series stars Emilia Schüle (“Berlin Dance School”) as the title character, with Louis Cunningham (“Bridgerton”) as the dauphin of France, Louis XVI. Marie Antoinette premieres Sunday, March 19 at 10:00 pm.
