Oerlikon Schlafhorst: Mr Kurtul, the success story of Iskur is quite amazing. It takes other companies more than a century to establish an equal tradition. How do you accomplish this? A. Kadir Kurtul: We are extremely ambitious – and at the same time very traditional. For us, quality is not just a word; we bring the word to life. It was my father who passed down the love for cotton to us. Today we say: The best technology plus modern management methods plus highest customer focus – that is our formula for success. Oerlikon Schlafhorst: How do you assure your quality? A. Kadir Kurtul: It starts with selecting the raw cotton. Technology is important, as are planning and logistics within the company. All this requires consolidated know-how; and that is something all of our employees have. Oerlikon Schlafhorst: Iskur Textile Industry Inc. is known for a friendly, respectful corporate culture. We have heard that there even is an »Iskur Family«; is that so? A. Kadir Kurtul: That’s right. Although Iskur is a young company, we already have a tradition: the pooling and imparting of know-how. The employees feel that they are a part of the »Iskur Family« and try to give their best every day. Kadir Kurtul: We are always looking to optimally combine forward-looking technology and people. Our employees have to be and want to be closely connected with technology, to be on familiar terms with the machine, so to say. Kadir Kurtul: Compact yarns are a part of our strategy for the future. In knitting this technology opens up interesting possibilities for new yarns and for better downstream processing. We have made our investment decision in favour of the Zinser 351 Impact FX. This new, long machine allows us to efficiently produce large quantities of top quality. Kadir Kurtul, who named it after his parents. Originally, a cotton gin was operated, and raw cotton and cottonseed oil were traded. Building on his experience and Kurtul family’s knowledge of the raw materials characteristics and quality criteria, the founder quickly and consistently advanced the company. Today, Iskur Textile Industry Inc. is a modern, fully integrated textile company with several spinning works, its own knitting mill, dye works, finishing and a making-up shop. The high quality requirement pays off: the company is growing continually.

Specialist for premium yarns and knitted fabrics Iskur offers a wide range of high-class yarns, knitwear and ready-made garments. The yarns processed are of highest quality and made from carded and combed cotton, viscose, blends of cotton and polyester, and cotton-viscose mixtures in counts of Ne 20/1 to Ne 80/1. High export share Iskur is one of the leading suppliers of yarns in Turkey. The daily turnouts: 15 tonnes of yarn by the ring spinning mill, 60 tonnes of yarn by the rotor spinning mill, 25 tonnes by the circular knitting mill along with another 20 tonnes of dyed and finished knitted fabrics. The share of exports is high: almost the entire production goes to the worldwide market.
