Gente: Lucas Correa Sevilla [Director, Fundador] (MAUD (Hons), M.Arch, B.F.A, CAE (Quito, Ecuador; 20 de Junio de 1980) Lucas CorreaSevilla es un prominente arquitecto, urbanista y diseñador Ecuatoriano. Obtuvo su título en Bellas Artes de Maryland Institute College of Art, y en Arquitectura de Savannah College of Art and Design. Posteriormente realizo una maestría en Arquitectura de Diseño Urbano de Harvard University Graduate School of Design donde se graduó con los más altos honores “with Distinction”. En busca de experiencia y revelacion sobre los movimientos globales de arquitectura y urbanismo, Lucas trabajo como asociado y jefe de diseño en diversos y prestigiosos estudios de arquitectura y urbanismo en varias ciudades del mundo. Su experiencia incluye; diseño, arquitectura y planificación de proyectos en Nueva York (Carlos Zapata), Dubai (DXB-LAB), Beijing (DnA) y Shanghai (Dynamic City Foundation y Mars Architects). En

People: Lucas Correa Sevilla [Director, Fundador] MAUD (Hons), M.Arch, B.F.A, CAE (Quito, Ecuador; June 201980) Lucas Correa-Sevilla is a prominent Ecuadorian architect, urban planner and designer. He received his degree in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and in Architecture from Savannah College of Art and Design. Subsequently, he received a master of Architecture in Urban Design degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD) where he graduated with â&#x20AC;&#x153;with Distinctionâ&#x20AC;?. In search of experience and exposure of the global architecture and urbanism movements, Lucas worked as an associate and head of design in several prestigious architecture and urban planning studios in several cities around the world. His experience includes; design, architecture and project planning in New York (Carlos Zapata), Dubai (DXB-LAB), Beijing (DnA) and Shanghai (Dynamic City Foundation and Mars Architects). In 2014, Lucas co-directed

2014 Lucas co-dirigió el eje de planificación Urbana y territorial para el Plan Metropolitano de Desarrollo y Ordenamiento Territorial Quito 2015-2025 (PMDOT). Trabajo que lo realizó para el Ilustre Municipio de Quito como consultor. En 2016, tomando como base teórica su trabajo realizado del PMDOT, Lucas entró como Director de Planificación Urbana Estratégica para el Instituto Metropolitano de Planificacion Urbana con el proposito de desarrollar la Visión Quito 2040. Desde la joven fundación de su estudio de arquitectura odD+ en 2015, la obra de Lucas ha sido reconocida en diversas ocasiones con premios y honores de rango nacional e internacional. Entre ellos, el distinguido Premio al Ornato Ciudad Quito 2015, con el diseño de su primera casa odD+ House 1.0. Los A+ Awards 2015 y 2018 con varios proyectos comerciales y culturales y el haber sido parte de la selección oficial de la Bienal de Arquitectura de Venecia 2016, siendo esta la bienal de arquitectura con más prestigio a nivel internacional. Considerado uno de los arquitectos emergentes más emblemáticos de la arquitectura moderna Ecuatoriana, Correa-Sevilla utiliza elementos del deconstructivismo y la antropología ecológica como metodología y principios de diseño. Sus obras son escultóricas y concebidas como obras de Arte. Estas pretenden siempre generar en el usuario el magnífico sentimiento de lo sublime, así reflejando en su arquitectura las sensaciones y conciencias presentes en el contexto geográfico Andino.

the Metropolitan Development and Territorial Plan for the city of Quito 2015-2025 (PMDOT). In 2016, taking as a theoretical base his work carried out for the PMDOT, Lucas became Director of Strategic Urban Planning for the Vision of Quito 2040 spacial planning project. Since the young foundation of his studio, odD + architects in 2013, Lucasâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; work has been recognized on several national and international awards and honors. Among them, the distinguished Prize to the Ornato Ciudad Quito 2015, with the design of his first house odD + House 1.0. The A + Awards 2016 and 2018 with several commercial and cultural projects and having been part of the official selection of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2016, this being the most prestigious international architecture bienniale. Considered one of the most emblematic emerging architects of modern Ecuadorian architecture, Correa-Sevilla uses elements of deconstructivism and ecological anthropology as methodology and design principles. His works are sculptural and conceived as works of art. These always aim to generate in the user the magnificent feeling of the sublime, thus reflecting in his architecture the sensations and feelings present in the Andean geographical context.

Parshan Fatehi [Arquitectura, Directora Proyectos] M.Arch, B.Arch.Sc.

(Teherán, Irán; 9 de junio de 1990) Parshan Fatehi es una arquitecta canadiense. Recibió su Bachelor en Arquitectura de la Universidad de Ryerson y una Maestría en Arquitectura de la Universidad de Waterloo, donde se centró en la investigación y fabricación de materiales orgánicos para la arquitectura y la construcción. En 2013, se mudó a Quito, Ecuador para formar parte de odD+ Arquitectos. Como miembro clave en el desarrollo y crecimiento de la empresa desde su inicio, Parshan ha dirigido el diseño de varios proyectos premiados, incluyendo odD House 1.0, que ganó el Premio al Ornato Ciudad Quito 2015, así como el Premio Architizer A + en 2015 con el proyecto Anti-Quiosco. Su buen ojo para los detalles, garantiza un producto arquitectónico impecable y de alta calidad.

Parshan Fatehi [Architect, Project Director] M.Arch, B.Arch.Sc. (Tehran, Iran; June 09, 1990) Parshan Fatehi is a Canadian raised architect. She received a Bachelor of architecture from Ryerson University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Waterloo where she focused on organic material research and fabrication for architecture and construction. In 2013, She moved to Quito, Ecuador to become part of odD+ Architects. As a key member in the development and growth of the firm since its beginning, Parshan has directed the design of various award-winning projects, including odD House 1.0 which won the distinguished Prize to the Ornato Ciudad Quito 2015, as well as the Anti-Kiosk, which was awarded the Architizer A+ Award in 2015. Parshanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s keen eye for detail ensures high quality and a flawless architectural product.

Maria Lorenzo Muñoz [Arquitectura, Gerente de Proyecto] M.Arch Nacida y criada en España. Obtuvo un Master de Arquitectura en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Valladolid. En 2014 llego a Quito y comenzo a trabajar para odD+. Maria esta a cargo de la coordinación y gestion de proyectos con un enfoque a diseño y construccion. María, siendo fundamental en la estructura organizativa de la oficina, organiza el trabajo en el equipo y lo dirije hacia el cumplimiento de los objetivos en la oficina y hacia el cumplimiento del objetivo final del proyecto. En estos momentos supervisa varios proyectos de construccion, logistica y control en odD+.

Maria Lorenzo MuĂąoz [Architect, Project Manager] M.Arch Born and raised in Spain. She obtained a Master of Architecture at the School of Architecture of the University of Valladolid. In 2014 she arrived in Quito and started working for odD+ Architects. Maria is in charge of the coordination and management of projects with a focus on design and construction. MarĂa, being fundamental in the organizational structure of the office, organizes the work of the team and directs it towards the fulfillment of the objectives in the office and toward the fulfillment of the project. Currently, she supervises several construction, logistics and control projects in odD+.

odD Casa 1.0, una vivienda unifamiliar ubicada en Quito, Ecuador, fue concebida como un experimento psico-terapéutico para el cambio de vida de una pareja de la tercera edad tras vivir en una casa de estilo rústico por más de treinta años. Ante las demandas muy específicas del cliente, y su cambio de estilo de vida, los arquitectos concibieron la casa como un recipiente terapéutico. Esto se hizo alentando al cliente a ser parte activa del proceso de diseño y construcción (estímulos activos) y diseñando meticulosamente cada espacio y cada elemento dentro de ese espacio aplicando el concepto de serialismo; El patrón en los pisos, techos y paredes le dio a cada espacio un ritmo y característica diferente. Estos elementos detallados de repetición / replicación se convirtieron en medios visuales para estimular la mente del cliente, nivelando su estado de ánimo. (estímulos pasivos). Cada elemento tectónico se muestra en su forma más natural y sincera. La piedra, extraída localmente se utiliza para la fachada exterior de la casa y el acabado del piso del patio. La madera reciclada de la vivienda anterior del cliente se utiliza para la puerta de entrada, así como el acabado del piso de las áreas privadas. El techo de hormigón visto sirve como la principal expresión formal de la casa, suspendida sobre enormes columnas de acero con acabado natural, que sobresalen 5 m en ambos lados. El sistema de losa alivianada por medio de cacetones aliviana la estructura del techo, permitiendo el voladizo y permite igualmente un sitema de tragaluces en áreas estratégicas de la casa permitiendo que la luz natural penetre todo espacio interior. La forma cóncava de la losa está destinada a negar los extremos, como un “medio” para equilibrar el cambio en el programa, así como la psique humana a través de una sola expresión arquitectónica. 11

odD House 1.0 located in Quito, Ecuador was conceived as a therapeutic experiment for a client suffering from bipolar disorder, and a change of lifestyle for him and his family after living in a rustic home for over 30 years. Facing very specific demands from the client and realizing the complexity of his condition, the architects conceived the house as a therapeutic vessel. This was done by encouraging the client to be an active part of the design and construction process (active stimuli) and by meticulously designing each space and every element within that space by applying the concept of serialism; pattern in the floors, ceilings, and walls gave every space a different rhythm and characteristic. These detailed elements of repetition/replication became visual means to stimulate the client’s mind, leveling his mood. (passive stimuli). Every tectonic element is showcased in its most natural and sincere form. Locally extracted stone is used for the exterior facade of the house, and the courtyard floor finish. Recycled wood is used from the client’s previous home for the entry gate as well as the floor finish of the private areas. The exposed concrete roof serves as the main formal expression of the house, suspended over massive naturally finished steel columns, overhanging 5m on both sides. The waffle slab system lightens the roof structure, allowing for such cantilever and acts as skylights in strategic areas to allow natural light to penetrate. The concave form is meant to negate extremes, as a ´mean´ to balance the change in program as well as the human psyche through one single architectural expression.

Situada en un contexto suburbano y genérico en las afueras de Toronto, CA. Nosotros nos propusimos el reto de diseñar la casa genérica más atractiva de la zona. Para eso tomamos los planos de una casa tipo ¨cookie cutter¨ y los modernizamos para crear una obra más efectiva, moderna y diferente bajo el mismo estándar y características de construcción tipo wood frame prevalente en Norteamérica y en todas las casas de la zona. El resultado fue un incremento en la valorización no sólo de la casa pero también de la zona, y un incentivo para que los desarrollos suburbanos de Norteamérica adquieran un nuevo tipo de la casa generica.

Located in a suburban and generic context in the outskirts of Toronto, Canada, we set ourselves the challenge of designing the most attractive generic house in the area. For that, we took the typical plans of a Â¨cookie cutterÂ¨ house typology and modernized it to create a more effective, modern and different project under the same standard and wood-frame construction characteristics prevalent in North America and in all houses in the area. The result was an increase in the value of not only the home but also of the neighbourhood, and an incentive for suburban developments in North America to acquire a new type of generic.

Pindus es un condominio residencial de 8 unidades ubicado en el valle de Cumbaya en las afueras de Quito, Ecuador. Este proyecto se enfoca en la experimentación de materiales y metodologías de construcción en contexto de montaña. Se quiso contrarrestar las tendencias limitantes de los materiales utilizados en la construcción de fachadas (dentro de Ecuador) mediante la incorporación de madera (un material de fachada desacostumbrado en Ecuador) y aplicar el tratamiento japonés especial de Yakisugi, donde se carboniza la madera dándole un acabado negro y casi fósil. Este tratamiento protege naturalmente la madera para mayor longevidad y resistencia ante todo elemento y la fluctuación de temperatura extrema de los Andes. Adicionalmente se utilizaron materiales nobles como el hormigon visto para la reducción de costos, mantenimiento, control térmico y una mejor exprecion tectónica. Pindus se proyecta como una tipología de casa de montaña. El volumen principal se separa de la montaña, elevando el estacionamiento para reducir el impacto en el sitio que se produciría por la excavación y movimiento de tierras. Esta elevación / separación del volumen principal permite mejorar notablemente el flujo de luz natural y la ventilación cruzada en los apartamentos. Generando iluminación natural en los apartamentos desde la parte posterior de la montaña, esto logra que cada apartamento tenga un mínimo de tres caras con iluminación natural, en donde normalmente este tipo de tipologías solo constan de un máximo de dos fachadas soleadas unicamente para apartamentos perimetrales. Pindus redefine la tipología de vivienda en contextos de montaña generando un mayor confort y apropiación de espacios por medio de sus residentes.

Pindus is an 8-unit residential condominium located in the Cumbaya Valley, outside of Quito, Ecuador. This project focuses on the experimentation of construction materials and methodologies. Pindus counteracts the limiting tendencies of materials used in facade construction (in Ecuador), by incorporating wood (an unconventional facade material in Ecuador) and applying the special Japanese treatment of Yakisugi, where the wood is carbonized, resulting in a black fossil-like finish. This treatment naturally protects the wood for greater longevity and resistance against the extreme temperature fluctuations of the Andes. Additionally, noble materials such as the concrete are used for cost reduction, maintenance, thermal control, and greater tectonic experimentation. Pindus is a mountain house typology. We are separating the main volume from the mountain, and raising the parking to reduce on-site impact produced by excavation. The separation of the main volume significantly enhances the flow of natural light and ventilation into the apartments, generating exposure from the back of the mountain. This results in each apartment achieving a minimum of three faces with light exposure, where usually this typologies only consist of a maximum of two . Pindus redefines the housing typology of the mountain context, by generating 360 views and greater user comfort.

Torre Corporativa Fabara es una torre de oficinas para uno de los bufetes de abogados mĂĄs prestigiosos del Ecuador. Nuestro reto fue crear una torre monumental que represente los valores del bufete en un terreno extremadamente estrecho. Como tal, aprovechamos la esbeltez del terreno, para exagerar la monumentalidad y verticalidad de la torre, esto lo hicimos con un lenguaje de aleros verticales, y cortes diagonales verdes en la fachada que cruzan los laterales del edificio conectando los pisos verticalmente de forma estratĂŠgica. El resultado es una torre corporativa que adquiere caracterĂsticas de similares a una catedral.

Fabara Corporate Tower is an office tower for one of the most prestigious law firms in the country. Our challenge was to create a monumental structure that represents the values of the firm on an extremely narrow terrain. Therefore, we take advantage of the slenderness of the site, to exaggerate the monumentality and verticality of the tower. This is accomplished through a language of vertical elements and green diagonals that cross the facades of the building and strategically connect different storeys. Through this concept, our tower acquires cathedral-like characteristics.

NNUU Torre 1.0 tiene 21 pisos de altura de uso mixto, esto responde a la caracteristica metropolitana y actividades de sus alrededores. A escala metropolitana, la Carolina, donde se implanta el edificio, representa una de las principales centralidades urbanas de la capital, con la presencia de una gran diversidad posible de uso programático. El edificio replica la heterogeneidad urbana con una mezcla de programas: hotel, suites residenciales, espacio comercial, entretenimiento y recreación; en otras palabras, una estructura estimulante que rompe la tipología típica de arquitectura homogénea en la capital, creando una pieza arquitectónica única y sensible que reacciona a su contexto cercano. La torre, al igual que una catedral gótica, muestra su sistema estructural como una expresión tectónica clara y honesta.

NNUU Tower 1.0 stands 21 storeys tall, mimicking the livelihood and activity of its surroundings through a true mixed-use program. At the metropolitan scale, the Carolina district -where the building is implanted- represents one of the main urban centralities of the capital, with the presence of almost every possible diversity of programmatic use. The building replicates urban heterogeneity with a mixture of programs: hotel, residential suites, commercial space, entertainment and recreational; in other words, a stimulating structure that breaks the typical typology of homogeneous architecture in the capital, creating a unique and sensitive architectural piece that reacts to its near context. The tower, much like a Gothic cathedral, shows its structural system as a clear and honest tectonic expression.

Para UUNN Tower 2.0, el proyecto busca volver a imaginar y conectarse una vez más con el carácter orgánico de la naturaleza al derribar el uso excesivo del ángulo recto en la arquitectura. La forma curva se usó como medio para representar lo orgánico en dos escalas contextuales: por un lado, la escala macro; siendo este el paisaje andino. Y a escala micro, la forma en que el edificio interactúa directamente con el espacio natural del parque La Carolina. La espacialidad interna del edificio se aborda desde el estudio de la dinámica humana. Si se realizaria un análisis de nuestros entornos y movimientos cotidianos, nos daríamos cuenta de que no corresponden a la concepción tradicional del espacio arquitectónico ortogonal. La idea no es encajar las necesidades humanas en un volumen rectilíneo simple y básico, sino crear más espacios que constituyan un sobre más apropiado de la actividad humana. For UUNN Tower 2.0 the project seeks to re-imagine and connect once more with the organic character of nature by toppling the overkill use of the right angle in architecture. The curved form was used as means to represent the organic at two contextual scales: on one hand, the macro scale; this being the Andean landscape. And at the micro scale, the way the building interacts directly with the natural space of the park La Carolina. The inner spatiality of the building is approached from the study of human dynamics. Should an analysis of our environments and everyday movements be done, we would realize that they do not correspond to the traditional conception of the orthogonal architectural space. The idea is not to fit human needs in a simple and basic rectilinear volume, but to create more spaces which constitute a more appropriate envelope of human activity.

Optimus Prime es una torre de uso mixto transformacional altamente eficiente y programática, una super torre con una multiplicidad de programas y usos. Optimus Prime alberga espacios de oficinas grandes y pequeñas, áreas comerciales, un gimnasio, un restaurante, suites ejecutivas, salas de conferencias y reuniones, una terraza en la azotea con minigolf y varios espacios de usos múltiples como la zona de coworking que puede mutar dependiendo de el programa en necesidad. La plaza también tiene características mutantes, y puede transformarse en un anfiteatro al aire libre. La fachada de la torre también es un transformador y actúa como una valla publicitaria activa, siempre cambiante. Complementando al uso comercial de la torre se desarrollaron micro suits habitacionales, de esta forma, el usuario es también el inquilino del edificio, activando el mismo las 24 horas del dia.

Optimus Prime is a highly efficient and programmatic transformational mixed use tower, a super tower with a multiplicity of programs and uses. Optimus Prime houses large and small office spaces, commercial areas, a gym, a restaurant, executive suites, conference and meeting rooms, a rooftop terrace with mini-golf and several multipurpose spaces such as the co-working area that can change depending of the program in need. The plaza also has mutant characteristics, and can be transformed into an outdoor amphitheater. The facade of the tower, acts as an active billboard, always changing. Complementing the commercial use of the tower, residential micro suits were developed, in this way, the user is also the tenant of the building, activating it 24 hours a day.

El Anti-Quiosco revoluciona el concepto de isla comercial y transforma la experiencia de compra en los centros comerciales. Inspirada en rompecabezas redondos de la infancia del arquitecto, esta estructura modular de 6 piezas se abre y cierra aleatoriamente, lo que permite versatilidad y flexibilidad en los arreglos y el espacio. Las 6 cuñas se pueden organizar en configuraciones infinitas, formando varios entornos dentro de un espacio. Todas las piezas encajan entre sí, incluyendo un mostrador de ventas, cajones de almacenamiento y todos los productos que se exhiben. Con 3,30 m de altura, el Anti-Quiosco puede adaptarse a cualquier producto de servicio, mostrando la naturaleza y esencia del trabajo y producto del cliente. La piel exterior de la estructura está hecha de totora tradicional, una planta utilizada como material de construcción por los pueblos preincaicos de América del Sur, y tejida a mano por artesanos locales de Ecuador. La tectónica interior es diseñada por el cliente por medio de papel tapiz . Esta se muestra en las superficies interiores, como uno de sus muchos productos. La sobriedad de la piel de totora exterior que contrasta con el interior crea una experiencia espacial dinámica tanto dentro como fuera de la estructura que rompe los límites espaciales en el contexto comercial. El Anti-Quiosco desafía cada idea preconcebida de lo que debería ser un quiosco de un centro comercial, transportando a sus usuarios fuera del contexto del centro comercial.

The Anti-Kiosk revolutionizes the concept of the commercial island and transforms the shopping experience. Inspired by puzzles from the architectÂ´s childhood, this 6 piece modular structure opens and closes, allowing for versatility and flexibility of arrangements. The 6 wedges can be organized into endless configurations, forming various environments within one space. All of the pieces fit together, including a sales counter, storage compartments, display stands, as well as all of the products on display. Standing 3.2m high, the Anti-Kiosk can adapt and tailor to any product or service, showcasing the nature of the clientÂ´s work. The exterior skin of the structure is made from traditional totora, a plant used as a building material by the South American Pre-Inca people, and is handwoven by local artisans from Ecuador. Wallpaper designed by the client is displayed on the interior surfaces, as one of their many products. The sobriety of the exterior totora skin contrasting with the vivid wallpaper creates a dynamic spatial experience both inside and outside of the structure breaking spatial boundaries. The Anti-Kiosk challenges every preconceived idea of what a mall kiosk should be, transporting its users outside of the mall context.

El diseño característico y escala del edificio lo posiciona como el próximo hito urbano de la zona centro norte de Quito. Su característica, tanto de forma como de uso mixto programático dará una imagen de innovación corporativa. Este edificio se destacará como un diseño innovador, sostenible, que aúna en su composición una unidad y estrategia tanto estructural, constructiva y ambiental que hace de él un signo de identidad para la empresa. El proyecto se comporta como un HUB de trabajo dinámico donde varias actividades profesionales, técnicas, y recreativas suceden en el mismo espacio físico. La organización de los “paquetes” programáticos resalta esta condición de mixtura funcional. Los “espacios de programación Alterna” están dispersos entre los programas corporativos para dinamizar la vida diaria y rutina de los trabajadores del edificio El planeamiento estructural se considera como una idea proyectual para que la construcción del edificio sea lo más efectiva y rápida para el cliente. El sistema constructivo se compone solamente de tres elementos principales, lo cuales bastarán para una sustentabilidad total del edificio: 1. Sistema de pórticos metálicos, que conforman el caparazón del edificio. 2. Núcleo horizontal rígido, donde se encuentran los diafragmas concentrados en los ductos verticales de comunicación y las zonas de servicios. 3. Losas postensadas de hormigón, como sistema constructivo del elemento horizontal.

The unique design and scale of the building positions it as the next urban landmark in the north central area of Quito. Its character, both in form and mixed programmatic use, will give an image of corporate innovation. This building will stand out as an innovative, sustainable design, which combines in its composition structure, construction and environmental unity that makes it a symbol of identity for the company. The project behaves like a HUB of dynamic work where several professional, technical, and recreational activities happen in the same physical space. The organization of the programmatic “packages” highlights this condition of functional mixture. The “Alternative programming spaces” are scattered among the corporate programs to boost the daily life and routine of the employees. - The structural system of the project is conceived so that the construction of the building is as fast and effective as possible. The construction system consists of only three main elements: 1. A system of metal frames or porticos, which make up the shell of the building. 2. A Rigid horizontal core, where the diaphragms are concentrated in the vertical communication ducts and service areas for structural stability. 3. Post-tensioned concrete slabs, for maximum span.

La dimensión de los pórticos estructurales hace que estos funcionen como louvers o aleros, permitiendo que los rayos del sol no incidan directamente en el edificio, tamizando la luz en su interior. Esto va a favorecer para que los interiores sean más confortables, y además empleando este mecanismo no supondrá ningún coste adicional para la implementación en sistemas de control solar más costosos. El edificio se comporta como una eficiente máquina de producción empresarial. Pero en base a su arquitectura mantiene valores humanos fundamentales de calidad de vida laboral. El proyecto Infra-Seeing utiliza el valle de Sucua en la Amazonía sur del Ecuador, como un enfoque piloto urbano y de paisaje para minimizar el impacto de los próximos procesos de urbanización derivados de las industrias de extracción de petróleo. El área es elegida en virtud de la superposición de muchas condiciones favorables. Se ubica en la rica interfaz entre las ecologías andina y amazónica; está cerca de una vasta área de tierra amazónica donde la explotación petrolera ya ha sido autorizada; Y el valle ya presenta cierto grado de urbanización. La idea clave es reorientar los próximos flujos de población impulsados por el petróleo, pensados para colonizar algunas de las ecologías vírgenes amazónicas restantes, y llevarlas a estas áreas del interior ya semiurbanizadas, como una oportunidad para mejorar su condición urbana incipiente. En este proceso de consolidación urbana, la producción de bambú jugará un papel principal y doble. En segundo lugar, los regímenes de fisonomía y de rápido crecimiento del bambú, combinados con un conjunto de ciclos de producción programados secuencialmente, proporcionarán material suficiente para la construcción sostenible de las nuevas “Comunidades del Milenio”. Un marco urbano programáticamente diverso garantizará el éxito social de la intervención.

The Infra-Seeing project utilizes the Sucua Valley in the southern Amazonia of Ecuador, as a pilot urban & landscape approach to minimize the impact of upcoming processes of urbanization derived from oil-extraction industries. The area is chosen by virtue of the overlapping of many favorable conditions. It is placed at the rich interface between the Andean and the Amazonian ecologies; it is in close proximity to a vast area of Amazonian land where oil exploitation has been already authorized; and the valley already presents some degree of urbanization. The key idea is to redirect the upcoming oil-driven population flows -thought to colonize some of the remaining unspoiled Amazonian ecologies- and bring them into these already semi-urbanized hinterland areas, as an opportunity to enhance their incipient urban condition. In this process of urban consolidation, bamboo production will play a main and double role. First, new bamboo crops will be used to rapidly remediate the ecology of currently eroded lands in the steep slopes of the Andes, a consequence of recent uncontrolled farming. Second, the bambooâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s physiognomy and fast growth regimes, combined with a set of sequentially programmed production cycles will provide enough material for the sustainable construction of new â&#x20AC;&#x153;Communities of the Millenniumâ&#x20AC;?. A programmatically diverse urban framework will guarantee the social success of the intervention.

URBANISMO ACCIDENTADO! ASENTAMIENTOS URBANOS PARA GEOGRAFIAS EXTREMAS.

TIPOLOGICOS

Nuestra propuesta trata la noción de lo colectivo genérico; lo que es aparentemente genérico puede tener propiedades individualistas y creativas por el proceso de iteraciones tipológicas y la transmutación que toman tipologías de arquitectura y organizaciones urbanísticas con el tiempo a través de las operaciones formales o informales. Esta forma genérica, por lo general visto como el elemento más negativo en las ciudades por no ser entendido correctamente, se vuelve dinámica y fascinante, sobre todo en las geografías emergentes y en sistemas extremadamente grandes y complejos de urbanismos a través del proceso de crecimiento orgánico informal. Para esta exposición específica, nos gustaría presentar múltiples iteraciones de un proyecto basado en nuestras metodologías de diseño de la transformación y la adaptabilidad. Al exhibir las diversas iteraciones que una tipología puede lograr a través del tiempo, esperamos disolver el paradigma de la arquitectura estática. URBANISMO ACCIDENTADO! Es un proyecto que muestra nuestro sistema y metodología de diseño a través de iteraciones espaciales utilizando las operaciones de división, expansión, contracción y reconfiguración para condiciones geográficas irregulares . Our proposal deals with the notion of the generic collective; What is apparently generic, can have individualistic and creative opportunities through the process of typological iterations and the transmutation that architecture typologies and urban organizations take over time through formal or informal operations. This generic form, usually seen as the most negative element in cities, becomes dynamic and fascinating, in emerging geographies with extremely large and complex urban systems through the process of organic informal growth. For this specific exhibition, we present multiple iterations of a project based on our design methodologies of transformation and adaptability. By exhibiting the various iterations that a typology can achieve over time, we hope to dissolve the paradigm of static affordable architecture. CRASH URBANISM! Is a project that demonstrates our systematic design methodology through spatial iterations using the operations of division, expansion, contraction and the reconfiguration of architecture in irregular geographical conditions. These operations amplify the potential in architecture and allow for great flexibility. Additionally, the main premise for the architectural schemes is of programmatic clarity that avoids banal and ephemeral formalisms.

El organigrama funcional se basa en la zonificación por usos formalizándolos mediante una lógica modular (adicción de unidades funcionales básicas), de manera que genere una ocupación espacial eficiente que rentabilice el área disponible y permita una construcción racional. Con esto se busca generar desarrollos de alta densidad en contextos geográficos extremos (como en las tierras altas de los Andes), con una lógica organizativa (a nivel macro) de Archipiélago Urbano utilizando la arquitectura como gestor social, adaptándose a las diferentes necesidades y condiciones evolutivas y culturales de cada familia. La planificación a futuro de posibles expansiones de cada tipología (iteraciones) permite la uniformidad contextual. El objetivo último, es proponer un sistema de desarrollo de vivienda de interés social que permita maximizar el número de residencias, parques, áreas recreativas, y reservas ecológicas en este tipo de terrenos irregulares.

The organization of spaces is based on modular functionality that generates an efficient spatial occupation that optimizes each place and allows for simple construction processes. The project seeks to generate high density developments in extreme geographical contexts (as in the highlands of the Andes), with an organizational logic (macro level) of an Urban Archipelago using architecture as a social generator, which adapts to different and evolutionary needs, conditions and the cultures of each user. It also foresees possible expansions of each typology (iterations) in the future for contextual uniformity. The goal is to propose a social housing development system that allows the maximization and optimization of the number of residences, parks, recreational areas, and ecological reserves in highly irregular topographical contexts.
