Climogram

Location Ground floor plan_1/200

Conclusions of the climogram: As we can see in the graphic, during summer months we will need to protect the building from the sun. In winter, however, we will need to benefit from solar radiation as much as posible. IN this way, we will get an energetically eficient building. For this goal, and after analizing different options, we foud that the best orientation will be to the south (172.5ยบ). In fact, with this orientation we will take the maximum advantage from solar energy in winter, and wi will have few radiation in summer. IN winter, apart form the passive warming, we will also have to benefit from solar energy using solar fotovoltaic panels. In summer, the ventilation will be our biggest target. For that purpose, we will ensure natural ventilation and we will use ventilators when needed. Conclusions of the sun lighting analysis: As the orientation of the building will be 172.5ยบ, we will need a specially designed element to protect the windows from solar radiation when needed. From april to october we will need this protection and from october to april we will need to get as muxh radiation as possible. So after our calculations we conclude that we will need an element 80cm long along all the window and 50cm wide both right and left the window.

WINTER Night

WINTER Day

During the night, the system will keep working. It’s important to close the windows by curtains to we keep the warm inside the bedroom, and not to loose it by radiation throug the glass.

The energy released by the PCMs when frozen, is used to heat the air. The solar heating allows the PCMs to remain liquid.

SUMMER Night

SUMMER Day

The frozen PCMs will absorb energy from the warm air to change to liquid phase. This will cool the air to confort temperature (23ÂşC)

In order to ensure the correct working of the system in daytime, the PCMs will be cooled during the night by opening the grills of the technical floor.
