Collaboration as catalyst for successful Retail Supply Chain One of the major challenges for supply chain teams for retail business is to match the pace of the continuous evolving innovation. Retails of today’s market target the activities ranging from competitive and new product development to assist finance of customers purchase. In today’s scenario when the suppliers are more geographically disseminated than ever, it shapes the product mix to become more broad and complex, also it escalates pressure due to shortening of product lifecycle. Thus it’s crucial for the retail supply chain teams to look for ways to increase in-stock availability, new product offerings, capacity management and to streamline omni-channel initiatives. The main strategic challenges faced by retail supply chain executives are: How to delight my customers? Are we monitoring the customers’ needs in markets? How much inventory to keep and where? What kind of supply chain network should I practice? How can we efficiently leverage technology? A Model which addresses most of the questions raised above is once developed by Deloitte which they comprehensively called Retail Supply Chain Maturity Model. The takeaway from this model is, the

leading retailers focus on collaboration with their suppliers. (Isabelle, Scott and Karin, 2014) One of the essential step for a more agile and more customer focused supply chain is collaboration. There should be some synchronization in the value chain between the retailers and the trading partners from tip to tail and they must collaborate to plan every stage of product lifecycle. The key areas to collaborate are: 1. To bridge the gap at the early stages of the product lifecycle. 2. Build a demand-driven network: design for agility and resiliency. 3. Be connected with suppliers and work closely in a collaboration. These key areas will act as a ‘Game Changer’ with dramatically improved supply chain visibility and execution, it will transform the performance of company’s supply chain. Now, people are able to make online purchases any time of the day any time of the week which saves a lot of energy and time. This growth also has huge impact on the parcel delivery system as the B2C ecommerce rely on courier or mail system to deliver their products. Because of the intertwining of globalization, ecommerce and technology small changes any part of the world is affecting the sales rapidly all over the world.
