About the Foundation

Octane’s community initiatives are headquartered under Octane Foundation for Innovation (OFI). The Foundation was launched as a complement to Octane’s overall mission to grow and strengthen the OC innovation ecosystem, enhance the live/work experience and advance the economic vitality of the region. The Foundation is dedicated to working with underrepresented and underserved populations and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusiveness across all industry sectors The Foundation and these five initiatives help Octane deliver on its impressive results for Orange County and Southern California and support its overall mission.

Underserved Individuals in OC Directly Impacted

Healthsocal.ai is a health-tech community impact initiative for social good developing the community’s data marketplace and AI solutions to improve health outcomes and equity for individuals, organizations, and communities. Healthsocal.ai’s solutions focus on helping guide both business investments and personal decisions in an informed and actionable way based on the trends & learnings of the data.

The goals of the initiative are:

• Create a healthier future and a positive generational health impact

• Reverse troubling trends such as a declining life expectancy and the mental health epidemic

• Leverage AI to balance health inequities and improve population health

• Create, retain, and attract more Healthcare AI companies and talent

• Convene and engage local organizations and healthcare systems

Milestones Achieved

• Hired Managing Director, Zeeshan Subzwari, and created strategic plan, governance, and priority focus areas

• Determined mental health and wellness for children and young adults (ages 1-25) in OC as target for solution

• Created the SoCal Health Index prototype focusing on mental health in OC

• Launched healthsocal.ai kick-off event inviting 125+ attendees from Octane and OC partner ecosystem to discuss population health issues and possible AI solutions

• Launched AI Coalition onboarding 12+ missionaligned community partners for collaboration

Next Wave

Next Wave is designed to engage community leaders in the continuous development and growth of the Orange County innovation ecosystem. This initiative seeks to provide greater access and awareness to the community by impacting and creating a generational bridge through a cultural movement that focuses on attracting and retaining talent from a cultural perspective. Next Wave defines culture through differentiation of experience resulting in long-term economic impact and reduction in employee turnover.

The goals of the initiative are:

• Identify, recruit and retain GenZ and Millennial innovation leadership in Orange County

• Develop a set of strategies designed to enhance the ecosystem, community engagement and OC live/ work experience

• Activate leadership to execute the strategies and advance the goals

STEAM Ahead

Grow the strength and resilience of the OC innovation ecosystem by stimulating and sustaining interest in STEAM jobs and career paths among underrepresented and underserved communities.

The goals of the initiative are:

• Create ease of access to STEAM resources, organizations, experiences and expertise

• Curate and deliver an Octane web-based resource of all Orange County STEAM organizations and nonprofits for pre-K, K-12, college and early career

• Leverage STEAM organizations, education and companies to support and deliver resources
