obituaries
Harvey, Edward (Eddie) W. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 65. Beloved husband of Janet Harvey (nee Harris) of Elmira. Loved father of Paul of Kitchener. Dear brother of Wayne of Barrie, Gerry of North Bay, Jane Richard of Ottawa, Clare of Alliston, Kay Lafrance of North Bay, and Jeff of Toronto. He is fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and close friends. Edward was predeceased by his brother Cecil, and his sisters Audrey Gray and Joan Harvey. As a resident of Elmira for the past 35 years, he will be remembered for his contributions to minor softball as a player, coach and umpire. Upon first arriving to Elmira, he was known to volunteer his time to John Mahood Public School in ice rink maintenance, as well as assisting in the construction of the school’s first playground. He enjoyed volunteering his time with the Elmira Theatre Company as a bartender until health issues sidelined him a few years ago. Edward was a very proud supporter of the Kitchener Rangers since their inception in the early 1960’s. He also, for many years, worked in the Blue Line Club at the Kitchener Auditorium and was privileged to meet many of the greatest individuals associated with the game of hockey. He will be sadly missed by a great many new and longtime friends at the Aud. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, Elmira, on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society by contacting Dreisinger Wonderful Wines Funeral Home, Elmira.
Klinck, Louis Robertson Died at Walkerton Hospital on the 26th of November 2009. He was predeceased by his wife Marie (Virtue) Klinck, his father, Walter Klinck and his mother Beatrice (Rahn) Klinck. He is survived by his children, James (GwenAnn MacAuley), Catherine (Mark Kraemer) and Elizabeth (John Martin) and his six grandchildren Kelly and Heidi Klinck, Darryl and Jennifer Kraemer, and Jack and Lily Martin. He will be missed by his many friends and associates who benefited enormously from his intelligence and generosity. Louis was born March 24, 1923 in Elmira, Ontario. He attended Queen’s University in Kingston and graduated as the gold medalist B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1946 and with a M.Sc. in 1948. It was there that Louis met his wife Marie Virtue in the Queen’s Pipe Band. They were married in 1948 and lived in Shawinigan Falls, QC. In 1950 they moved back to Elmira where Louis had a long and distinguished career at Naugatuck/Uniroyal Chemicals until 1988 after which time he consulted on projects in Connecticut, Taipei and Bangkok until 1995. After Marie’s death in 1997, he moved to Luthervillage in Waterloo. Brucelea Haven in Walkerton became his final home in 2008. He was a person of keen intellect and great talent. He enjoyed woodworking, stamp collecting, and travelled extensively throughout the world. He had been a member of the Elmira Lion’s Club and Probus in Waterloo and was a founding member of the Elmira Curling Club. A special thank you to the compassionate staff at Brucelea Haven and Walkerton Hospital. There will be no funeral home visitation. A memorial gathering for family and friends to celebrate Louis’ life will be held on Monday, November 30th at Trinity United Church, 21 Arthur Street North, Elmira, at 1:30 pm. Private interment at Elmira Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
