Martin, Adeline

Esther Soehner, daughter of the late Aaron and Verna (Shoemaker) Lichty, was born on September 25, 1917 on the family farm at New Jerusalem. Devoted wife to Percy (deceased 2000), married on July 9, 1943. Survived by daughter Gladys Bauman, sons Brian and Richard and his wife Teresa, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also survived by her sister Elaine and Percy Lethbridge of Restoule. Predeceased by her sisters Ruby Hickman and Valera Adams, and her brothers Fred, Howard, Edward, Glen and Wilson Seiling. Esther enjoyed quilting, assembling Braille bibles, preparing and serving food for church functions and helping during summer bible school at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Esther spent many hours tending to her large garden. Esther also enjoyed picnics at the cottage and daily walks. The family will receive their relatives and friends on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Elmira. Interment will follow in Elmira Union Cemetery. In her memory, donations to CNIB or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. A special thank you to all the staff at Chartwell – Elmira and to Janet Johnson for all the love and care given to Esther.

Peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Heritage House, St. Jacobs. Adeline at the age of 91 years was formerly of Floradale. Sister-in-law of Velina (Mrs. Amos L.) Martin of Parkhill. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and their families. Adeline was a registered nurses aid for many years. She was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her parents Anson and Lydia Ann (Lichty) Martin, her sister Edna (Mrs. Emerson) Weber, her brothers Lincoln L. (Mary), Clayton L. (Lila), Amos L., Ervin L. (Beatrice), George L. (in infancy). The family will receive their relatives and friends at Floradale Mennonite Church on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. A family interment will take place at 1:45 p.m. In Adeline’s memory, donations to MCC or MCEC (The Village International Mennonite Church, Ottawa) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. A special thank you to all the staff at Heritage House, St. Jacobs and Chartwell Retirement Home, Elmira for the exceptional care provided to Adeline.

Downey, Rose G. (Runstedler) Tuesday, June 23, 2015, Rose passed away peacefully in her 79th year surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener. Beloved wife and best friend of Maurice for over 60 years. Loving mother of Linda (Murray) Buchan, Karen Downey, Dennis (Dana) Downey, Stephen (Evelyn) Downey, Terry (Mary) Downey, and Darlene (Rick) Hauser. Proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Survived by her siblings Irene Geier and Gerard Runstedler. Rose has been reunited with her youngest son the handsome “Young Prince Philip”. Also, predeceased by her parents Anthony and Regina (Strauss) Runstedler, three brothers Hubert, Jacob, and Walter, and four sisters Doretta Bratherton, Eleanor Kroetsch, Shirley Lessard, and Monica Witmer. Rose’s greatest passion in life was the love of her family and a good game of cards. She will be missed immensely by the many lives she has touched. Rose’s family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. A private burial service will be held following the reception. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to The Lung Association or St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.

Died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Listowel Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Predeceased by his father Albert Seiling (1970) and his mother Gladys Jarvis (2000). He will be remembered by his son Steven (Kathryn) and daughter Lindsay Joseph (Scott Shantz), granddaughter Stephanie (Chris Norris), grandson Ian, granddaughter Nyla Joseph, great-granddaughter Kathryn Norris, and his partner Linda Love and her family. Born in Hanover, he was a lifelong resident of Elmira and after high school he attended Ryerson Institute of Technology. Trevor subsequently worked for McKee Brothers and was responsible for the design of the Insta-Hitch and SnoLander products. In 1964, Trevor established a successful custom metal manufacturing company, located in Elmira, which continues to serve local area businesses and international companies. He was a talented mechanical designer responsible for the innovative designs which solved all the challenges his customers brought to his doorstep. He also designed and evolved the North American farm snow blower which was distributed throughout North America. Trevor continued to be involved in the business until recently. He will be missed by Vern and the staff at Astron Tool and Machine. Many thanks to the first floor nurses of the Listowel Hospital for their kindness and support. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.

She is survived by her daughter Susan and son-in-law Art Bolduc, Tricia and Kenny, Jacob and Owen Fulcher, Travis and Kelly, Addison and Hayden Bolduc all of Elmira. She is also survived by her daughters Sandra and Bob Esplen of Owen Sound, Cindy and Nigel Higenbottom of Calgary, her grandchildren Miranda Cook, Philip Cook and Melissa Britney. Predeceased by her husband J.D. Scott ($cotty), (2003) her daughter Pamela Britney (1987), her parents Charles and Daisy Houghton and her sister Marion Houghton. She was employed by Borg Textiles and Metzgers Egg Grading for many years. She enjoyed many afternoons at “The Shop” as greeter with Jenny and Dayna Black and Staff. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Monday, June 29, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Hans Borch officiating. Interment in Elmira Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital or St. James Lutheran Church, Elmira. “All is well in Murial’s world”
