Peggy Snyder, age 66, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure on June 16, 2016 while at her home in Elmira. She was born in Guelph to John “Jock” and Marjorie Morrison, and was the fourth of six children. Growing up, Peggy enjoyed spending time at her family’s cottage on Conestogo Lake and was a very talented water-skier and baton twirler. She attended Kitchener Collegiate Institute where she met and fell in love with Clifford Snyder. They were married on October 28, 1967 at Parkminster United Church in Waterloo. They lived in Waterloo for several years where they began their life and family together. They later bought a home in and moved to Elmira. Peggy and Cliff were married for 48 years and had two sons, Jeff and Bryan. She was a wonderful mother to the active boys and was a major presence and supporter through their many years of competitive lacrosse and hockey. Peggy loved to cook and experiment in the kitchen and developed lots of recipes that have lasted as family favourites to this day. She also knitted and crocheted many beautiful throws that continue to be enjoyed. Peggy loved watching her two sons grow and become involved in the family business with their father. Jeff and Bryan continue working in the business and both have families of their own. Peggy was grandmother to six lucky children. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and attended their many activities and sporting events, always rooting from the sidelines. After her parents’ passing, Peggy inherited the family cottage on Conestogo Lake where her family, and many a friend came together to spend time. They enjoyed boating, waterskiing, golfing, campfires, and the beautiful quiet scenery. They progressively added on to the cottage and winterized it so they could enjoy the lake year-round. Peggy loved watching the sunsets and eating “spider-dogs” cooked on the campfire! Peggy and Cliff remained in their home in Elmira, and spent almost every weekend at their cottage with their two dogs, surrounded by family and friends. Peggy will be sorely missed by friends and family. Her passing will leave a huge gap in the lives of her loved ones. She is survived by husband, Cliff Snyder of Elmira; sons, Jeff Snyder of Guelph with children Eric and Katie, and partner Dawn and her sons Sam and Ben; Bryan of Waterloo with daughters Madison and Samantha, and partner Jessica; brothers Layton Morrison and wife Joy of Burlington; Tiny Morrison and wife Joan of Elmira; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Russ and Sandy Snyder of Burlington, Ron and Audrey Snyder of Waterloo, and Claude and Barb Snyder of Waterloo. Visitation was held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service was held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
