ABOUT Oaks Christian School is a nonprofit, private, co-ed, day and boarding school serving grades 4-12, that opened its doors in the fall of 2000. Our first senior class graduated in June 2003. In the fall of 2009, the school opened a new middle school campus adjacent to the high school campus.

Fifth-grade was added in 2014 and fourth-grade was added in 2023. Oaks Christian School enrolls approximately 1,068 high school students and 584 students in grades 4-8. The school campus is located in a beautiful, suburban community about 40 miles northwest of metro Los Angeles in the city of Westlake Village.

THE INSTITUTE OF E NGINE E RI NG

The faculty at Oaks Christian School is often referred to as the “living curriculum.” Faculty has come from around the country. There is an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio, and 56 percent of our faculty members hold advanced degrees. Our highly qualified and dedicated Christian teachers act as mentors and role models to our students, inspiring them to the highest levels of purpose and achievement. Faculty and staff lead advisory groups, volunteer as chaperones for class level trips, and often welcome students at lunchtime or out-of-class hours for conversation and connection.

Our faculty and staff also excel professionally outside of the classroom, publishing original works, having art nationally recognized, and being recognized as leaders in their fields.

The Institute of Engineering develops students with the skills to analyze, model, and design engineering systems, solve com- plex problems, and master the use of software and prototyping tools used in the industry. The courses are designed to cover the primary topics of university engineering programs, but also include a philosophy of engineering and introduction to the typical industry design review process. Students benefit from off-campus excursions in robotics, cyberpatriots and the annual solar cup team competition.

T HE CA M P U S E N VIRONMEN T Oaks Christian embraces a three-pronged approach to curriculum that includes foundations, exploration and specialization. The school also has a Learning Center to help ensure academic success. The Online School offers hundreds of courses for online only and main campus/online students. A new residential hall opened in fall 2019 for both domestic and international students in a dorm-style community. In addition, an IDEA Lab (Innovation, Design, Engineering and Aeronautics) opened in fall 2019. This 13,000 square foot space is home to the engineering curriculum, materials lab, advanced physics, biotechnology, and roboticswomen’s soccer, and the Olympics.

I N ST I T UT E OF GLOBAL L EADERSHIP The Institute of Global Leadership equips students with the skills to engage with a rapidly changing world. Courses emphasize curricular relevance, where student interest and curiosity are encouraged. A global perspective is developed as students learn about a wide variety of fields of study, culture, and international challenges. Leadership skills are developed whereby students become active entrepreneurial problem-solvers. Soft skills such as public speaking, negotiation, and teamwork and collaboration are emphasized.

I N ST I T UT E OF ART S AN D IN NOVATION The Institute of Arts and Innovation (IAI) provides high school students with individualized learning pathways in the performing and visual arts.

Courses of study challenge students and connect them to real-world opportunities and industry leaders. Traditional visual and performing arts core classes are paired with leading-edge arts classes, along with opportunities such as master classes, guest speakers, internships, and mentorships. Specialized pathways include: music production, songwriting, vocal performance, film and television, acting for the camera, dance, and photography.

ATHLETICS Athletics has received national sports recognition for both individual and team accomplishments. Approximately 66 percent of high school students participate on JV and varsity teams. Oaks Christian School has earned 195 league titles, 55 CIF titles, seven California state titles and has produced six individual/relay state champions, two Gatorade State Players of the Year, and one Gatorade National Player of the Year. The high school hosts 26 different sports and 50 school teams. Students are recruited by colleges to play at the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA levels. Graduates are currently playing in the NFL, MLB, MLS, softball, and women’s soccer.

Oaks Christian School operates on a semester calendar with an A–F grading system. One extra point is given for honors and advanced placement grades at any grade level.

CLASS OF 2023*

It takes 25 credits to graduate, using a semester system.

Students are required to take seven classes per year in 9th and 10th grades and at least six classes in 11th and 12th grades.
