obody does big quite like Sam Choy’s Breakfast, Lunch & Crab in Iwilei. The casual eatery showcases a variety of large-sized meals that include fresh crab, lobster and shellfish, steaks and chicken — all at reasonable prices. And when the adults are ready, they quench their thirst with “Big Aloha” beer, brewed fresh on site and a perfect complement to Choy’s crab and poke. Call 545.7979.

Above: The centerpiece of the restaurant is this all-wood sampan, christened “Bumbucha” and indicative of Sam Choy’s trademark large meals. Inset: The restaurant’s “Crispy Whole Jumbo Tiger Shrimp on Sam's Fried Rice” — dripping with sweet chili glaze and served with a refreshing 16-ounce lager. 1 | Jeson Borji, Amber Rodrigues, Pooch Gnouilaphi and Gordon Medeiros, dining room manager 2 | Magdalena Liew, Angela Eberhardt, Dan Terada, Troy Nakagawa and Scott Yamaguchi 3 | Liz and Danny Urbanczyk 4 | Ryan, Michelle and John Tam, with Lana and Annie Lee Photos by Lawrence Tabudlo
