Step back four years to 2019 and Operation Hiki Ano, the Navy’s concentrated effort to mitigate a substantial training backlog, is well underway. Defence Public Affairs and Navy Today have concentrated on the glamour options – HMNZ Ships CANTERBURY and WELLINGTON at sea, putting their crews through rigorous training – although coursework and classrooms on land get some publicity.
