Tottenville High School hosted a “Student Activities Fair” on September 29, 2021. Prior to the fair, officers gathered material and resources to recruit underclassmen. We prepared “How to Join: Key Club” handouts, QR codes with links to our communication platforms, and even a presentation that was played throughout the fair. As we set up our booth in front of the school’s entrance, we meticulously place our material and prepare for the incoming wave of students. Soon, chaotic noise from bustling groups filled the entrance of the school. Officers shouted taglines and approached the underclassmen to share more about Key Club. Eventually, we got very comfortable with our stump speech and were able to build a momentum of sign-ups. Sign up sheet after sign up sheet began to fill up quickly as we scrambled to gather more. Watching the immense number of curious students stopping by and advising everyone about what Key Club is has established a sense of fulfillment within us. As we explain the benefits of Key Club and its ability to both form and help out communities everywhere, these underclassmen’s eyes light up with interest and shock. Looking back three years ago how we were in their same shoes, we were more than ecstatic that this time we were the ones who guided them and helped out the underclassmen decide if Key Club is right for them or not. Despite being out of breath by the end of the day, every breath was worth all the effort to make Key Club more known around. Together we knew that not only was Key Club now more known, but that there are now more people to help spread awareness everywhere. Together we were making a difference.
The day was tremendously successful. Through screeching voices and impassioned drive, we managed to get 185 n ew member sign-ups. We look forward to expanding Tottenville Key Club more everyday!

clubclub meetingmeeting
On October 7th, my club had a meeting. Being that it is the first meeting after the Freshman Orientation, this meeting had numerous new members, so we just went over numerous things that we talked about last time. We made sure the new members had access to our remind and google classroom. Furthermore, we talked about the various events that we have, including in-person events such as the Alzheimer's walk at Clove Lake Park this upcoming Saturday, the Making Strides against Breast Cancer walk, and a clean up at the Olmsted-Beil house park, and we shared the online events that we chose to keep on doing for those that cannot show up to the in-person events such as MapSwipe and Classroom Central. Moreover, we informed the attendees about the divisional events and had our Lieutenant Governor, Ms. Reznik, speak about these events! Finally, we explained the dues system at Key Club and collected dues from anyone who had it. This meeting turned out very well, we are very glad so many people attended, and I hope that all of them continue to do so!
