Registration and orientation Trimesters at Northwest begin in late August (fall), early January (spring), early May, early June, early July and early August (summer). The fall and spring trimesters are 16 weeks long, while the May, June and July sessions are either four weeks or eight weeks long. The August summer session lasts two weeks.

New freshmen attend Summer Orientation, Advisement and Registration (SOAR). SOAR takes place in June, and students must attend a one-day orientation and registration program. In addition, new freshmen attend Advantage. This is a four-day orientation program held in August prior to the beginning of the fall trimester. nwmissouri.edu/admissions/orientation

Transfer and former/returning students have a variety of orientation and registration options. Preregistration for the summer and fall trimesters takes place one day in April, one day in May and two other days in the summer. For the spring trimester, there is a day in late November/early December.
