Annual Giving Program

Building fund closes

Capital campaign is over, but support for mission still needed A new and exciting phase for the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center began with the completion of the Education Center. We now have an expanded platform from which to share with the Maui community the story of the Nisei veterans – and their legacy and guiding values. To do so, the NVMC needs your support to manage and maintain the Education Center, Kansha Preschool and Maui Adult Day Care Centers Ocean View facilities. These gifts also support the programs that are offered through the Education Center. To this end, the NVMC Board of Directors established an annual giving program, with donor categories set up according to level of giving. Details are at the top of the coupon on the facing page. Donors are recognized for their contributions in Okage Sama de under their respective donor category, as shown on this page. Additionally, those who contribute more than $1,000 during the year (Division and Army supporters) will also have their names posted in the Education Center lobby for a period of one year following their donation. Help the NVMC accomplish its mission by supporting us with your fully tax-deductible contributions. Please see the coupon on the next page.

Completion of the Education Center meant our 20-year capital campaign came to a close December 31, 2012. The names of all who contributed to the building will be on display in our Book of Honor, copies of which are in the Education Center and in the Intergenerational Room of the adult day care building. Additionally, the names of all who contributed $1,000 or more to our building fund will be displayed on the Wall of Honor in the Intergenerational Room. CORRECTION: Tady and Sandy Arisumi donated $1,000 to the building fund during the period from June 1 through December 31, 2012. Their contribution was not in the building fund donor list that was published in the March issue of Okage Sama de. We apologize for this error.
