NU|TUTORS

AbOUT US Thank you for choosing NU|Tutors! As a student-run tutoring company, we have helped over 300 students with their academic needs since our inception in October 2008. With a large pool of tutors, we are able to provide your children with truly personalized instruction, matching students and tutors in ways that extend beyond purely academic needs. We understand exactly what high school students are dealing with: our tutors just aced the ACT, rocked Chemistry and successfully crammed for 5 AP tests. Our goal is to help your children succeed not only as students, but also as individuals. We believe by forming mentorships, we can positively impact the North Shore community.

OUR MISSION NU|Tutors’ vision is to provide both exceptional tutoring services and enduring mentorships to high school and middle school students in the North Shore area by utilizing Northwestern University’s most valuable resource – its academically driven and accomplished students.

OUR SERVICES

GROUP TUTORING Our Group Tutoring service is an effective and affordable option for students who feel more comfortable learning in groups. Our group tutors have been screened for their ability to facilitate learning in small groups, and will help each student get the most out of every session. NU|Tutors does not match students interested in group tutoring: interested students and parents should create their group before requesting Group Tutoring. In order to ensure the level of instruction meets our standards, please limit groups to no more than 4 students.

THE MATCHING PROCESS The client fills out the General Information questionnaire (attached in our email) in which they can specify their child’s academic needs, tutoring preferences, contact information, etc.

The client is directed to complete the Supplemental Learning Assessment. These questions help us develop a better understanding of the student’s extracurricular interests, study habits, and learning style. NU|Tutors believes that in order to develop lasting mentorships, we have to get to know our students first.

NU|Tutors will carefully match the student with the best possible role model: a tutor who specializes in the requested subject(s), has overcome similar challenges, and can connect with the student on a personal level based on mutually held habits and interests. Within 24 hours, the client will receive a welcome email with a one-page profile of the tutor with whom they have been matched.

Our head of Client Relations will meet with the client for a one-on-one consultation. During the consultation, the Client Relations will work with the client to set goals for the student and select the best package option.

SETTING UP YOUR SESSIONS After the client has been matched with a tutor, the client will receive a welcome email from TutorPanel. TutorPanel is the online platform that enables our clients to formally schedule and pre-pay for sessions, as well as check their existing balances.

Within 24 hours of matching, the tutor will contact the client to arrange the specific time and place of the first tutoring session.

Once a time and place have been determined, the client must pre-pay for their scheduled sessions on TutorPanel with the login information that they received.

Once the client’s payment has been received, the student may begin meeting with their tutor!
