Elaine Bermitz explores the new Manchester-based Jewish dating service, JHub.

With two successful events already in place, J-Hub's Rabbi Eliezer Woolfson is optimistic about the organisation’s future. For his first event many young – and not so young –singles enjoyed a convivial Friday night at the Fairways Hotel in Prestwich. Guests ate a full Friday night meal and met up with others across all levels of faith and none at all.

The second event drew around 100 people to a buffet and dessert and to listen to the most remarkable journey of a Pentecostal couple from Leicester who, on the verge of becoming ministers, realised that Christianity was not for them. Studying intently and questioning themselves honestly, they found they could only adhere to one religion – that of Orthodox Judaism.

Following their journey were a mixed group of people who will enhance their Jewish lives through J-Hub through upcoming events, whether it will be through learning Hebrew, going to Israel, or further social events planned.

“There will be a further consultation event to discuss an educational programme in the future," Rabbi Woolfson said. “In the meantime, it was nice to witness the start of a refreshing new group for all ages.”
