About Me

Hi! I'm Nuraini Diah. I really love art since I'm at a young age until now, my passion for art is more deeply when I started studies at UiTM Machang, Kelantan for my Diploma, and now, I'm currently continuing my studies at UiTM Shah Alam for my Degree in Textile. Creating art makes me happy and satisfied with my own artwork because I make it from scratch. I really like playing with colours, it resemble my personality with a colourful life!

When I was 18, it is the first time I step out of my area, I finally received an offer from UiTM Machang to further my studies in Textile, I like drawing, colouring, and anything about fashion, I am so excited to start my first semester of diploma for the year. Throughout my first semester, I have learned how to do a resist on a paper, my lecturer teaches me how to do a resist from scratch right up to the end. It seemed awkward at first to learn how to use the canting, but with a lot of practicing, I was able to master it comfortably. I am incredibly proud of myself because I was able to do a resist for the first time.

But then my lecturer introduced me to screen printing, which was the most enjoyable part for me because I got to experiment with different colour combinations. Furthermore, my classmates and I were given the task of printing on top of a t-shirt for our final, by using natural materials such as various sorts of plants and flowers found in the neighbourhood. Next, I learnt how to weave; weaving demands patience to achieve a beautiful and precise finish; as a beginner, we used A5 size hardboard as a weaving surface. In addition, we were instructed to take some yarn provided by UiTM or students; various yarns are available, some of which are thick and some of which are thin. I used both types of yarn to experiment with different yarn thicknesses. Doing weaving can genuinely help to relax the mind since the colour differences make our hearts feel peaceful and calm. Moreover, the best part is that I finally know how to sew. I had no knowledge about sewing at first, despite the fact that I enjoy fashion. Thanks to the lecturers who provided me with great knowledge for the future, I can finally sew my own garment, though I still need a lot of practise. Sewing is not easy; it requires a lot of patience to ensure that the lines are straight and neat so people will wear our product with confidence. After finishing my diploma, I continued my studies in degree at UiTM Shah Alam, and this is where my second journey begins. I am grateful to be surrounded by caring friends and lecturers. Unfortunately, 2019 has hit COVID-19, tragically. Nonetheless, I must continue to pour out all of my blood, sweat, and tears until the end. I was continuing my journey and was able to learn more in-depth about Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop in degree, both of which are my favourite software that I am currently interested in. I can develop my drawing skills and also apply for my final project with this software.

DEGREE INTERNSHIP

Elective Class:

ADE465: Fashion Accessories

For my degree internship, i work at minimalace boutique located in Seksyen 7 Shah Alam as a fashion/textile intern. Personally, when I started my internship in here, I really glad that I did, because I have gained a lot of new experiences from the staff about the fashion industry. From how they sketching the design until they made one garment as a sample. There is a lot of samples before they release a new design on the social media, they will do a meeting session to criticise which design suitable to be out for the upcoming session. This is a fashion accessories class, which is each person are required to make a handbag with a theme that we chose. My theme is a earth. From sketch, I make it into reality, the bag are made of plastic and its is a round shape and see through bag. The green and blue material are a round opaque glass seed, and I glue it using adhesive glue for a strong adhesion. 51

Moreover, in my opinion, this is the best part of my internship, where I am needed to follow the staff to the photoshoot session as a wardrobe assistant. From there, I gained a lot of knowledge which in result, I finally managed to strengthen my skills in terms of social, communication and working efficiently. The first thing which I had to do is to iron all the garments which the amount is almost 20 pairs for the model to wear for campaign Akad 2020. Next, I also need to style the model with hijab and clothes during the whole campaign. During the photoshoot, I have to change the model’s clothes during each and every photoshoot so this involves me to move as fast as I can. I had so much fun working during the photoshoot session because in a way, this experience really does improve my skills and improves my way of communicating with people around. 52

Sewing french lace on top of a mask for sample and also situate beads on top of the mask using beads applicator 55

I and my colleague helping each other to make the advertisement board for Akad 2020 and change a new decoration on the wall to matched the theme.

The samples garments that did not make it into store is sold on Instagram, and it is one of kind clothes can be purchased. After that, I need to style the model with a few clothes and hijab before a photo session and I am in charged for taking picture of the model with the said clothes to post it on Instagram as an advertisement of the product.

t s e r et nI

Makeup I have been doing makeup since I was 18 years old, and my interest grew when I started working at SASA Sdn. Bhd., a makeup shop. I started working there after finished my SPM, and although I only worked there for three months, I learned a lot about makeup and skincare. In the first month, I had to go to training to learn more about the products we sell in the store, and I learned how to apply makeup correctly. We also have a session where we have to makeup our partner. And my love for make-up is growing until now and I am now confident to make-up other people faces. These pictures on the left, are a few of my experience doing makeup on my friends faces.

61

Day by day my makeup skill getting better, just believe in yourself and you will achieve what you want!
